Obama's enthusiastic message was clear and focused on the students and young people. "It is easy to be cynical and believe that the world can't change," according to Obama. However, he urged all attending, to take risks and be bold, have hope and get over fears and look squarely at problems and decide we can solve them. He believes that a transformation in America needs to occur in the areas of health care, education costs, the war, and energy policies and urged students to help out with making these changes. He stated he could not do this alone!
He mingled with the crowd for quite a while, signed books and shook hands! He'd love to have students join his campaign. Check out www.studentsforbarackobama.com. If you aren't a student, please check out this website for further information on Senator Obama.
We will be attending other rallies for other Democratic Presidential candidates over the next few months. If you hear of any other events that we should announce to our members, please email us at cliftonwomendems@aol.com so that we can check out the entire field. Having this event occur in Virginia is more positive proof that Virginia is indeed turning BLUE!!!
And here in my opinion is one of the best parts of the speech where Obama speaks about Bending the Arc
Also I was there with two other members of Next Generation Democrats, and I saw several other local dems like precinct captain Joanna Delune, and Webb Brigade member and Braddock district co-chair Marc Greidinger, as well as local blogger and GMU student Bryan J. Scrafford(who also has coverage of the event and his photos up).
Anyone else from the community make it?
