Teachers Give Kaine A's, Kilgore F's

This Monday, the Virginia Education Association (VEA) strongly endorsed Tim Kaine for Governor, giving him "straight A's in education funding, teacher salaries, public money going to public schools and protecting the Virginia Retirement System."  At the same time, the VEA slammed Jerry Kilgore as "just so potentially harmful," giving him three F's and an incomplete grade for his positions on education.  VEA President Princess Moss said, "If we want vouchers, merit pay, a weakened [Virginia Retirement System] and a shrinking portion of the General Fund for public education then we allow the election of Jerry Kilgore."

In response, Kilgore campaign spokesman Tim Murtaugh had basically nothing to say, except for the lame, hackneyed response, "This is a bunch of Democrats endorsing Democrats."  Yawn.  Answer this, then, Mr. Murtaugh:  why did the VEA endorse 13 Republicans for House of Delegates if it's strictly a bunch of "Democrats endorsing Democrats?"  And why did the VEA have nice words to say about the real Republican running in this race, Russ Potts?  Can't you just accept the fact that the teachers of Virginia don't like Jerry Kilgore or his plans for education?  What part of "three Fs and an incomplete" did you not understand?
