This past Friday, the Senate Privileges and Election Committee voted to report SB 840 out of committee. A vote on SB 840 is likely to take place Monday, Jan. 29, on the Senate floor.
HB 2707 (SB 840's companion in the house) passed House P&E subcommittee, Friday, Jan 26. It comes to full P&E committee, Friday, Feb 2. If it passes, it should then move to the House floor.
There is also a companion budget amendment to provide funding for the transition to optical scan voting machines in the Senate. Its hearings have not yet been scheduled.
** Please call or email your Senator and Delegate and urge them to vote for SB 840 and HB 2707 to require Virginia elections to use verifiable optical scan machines, and manditory auditing of ballots/machines during canvasses and recounts.
THIS IS THE WEEK THAT MATTERS!!!
