Dear Mr. XXXXX,

I have no comment on Virgil's statement.  He is a great congressman, and we are fortunate to have him.  Thank you for your email.

Watkins

Let's chalk that up in the "I support Virgil 100% ... but no comment" category.  If silence is acceptance, this new category is silence plus.

Also, keep the updates coming! Call or email a Virginia GOP representation who's stayed silent so far. Bonus points if you can get Tom Davis out of his hiding place.

We Have To Mention (Mark - 1/25/2007 4:18:34 PM)
that Watkins Abbitt at first declined to answer based on whether the inquirer was a Republican or not.

That is the sign of a weak, spineless faux independent.

I have known about Connie Brennan's upcoming candidacy for some time now, and I wholeheartedly endorse and support her.

Connie Brennan for the 59th!!

Faithful American delivers to Goode (Andrea Chamblee - 1/25/2007 5:09:29 PM)
Did you invite Virgil Goode to a Mosque?.  That invitation was hand delivered. According to Faithful America.org:

A "Goode" day for religious pluralism:  As promised, we assembled a delegation of thoughtful voices and paid a visit to Representative Virgil Goode (R-VA) to discuss his recent anti-Islamic comments. Our friend Dr. Sayyid Syeed of the Islamic Society of North America and four others joined us along with 8,000 of you in an hour-long meeting with the Congressman asking him to revisit his remarks and invite him to an Islamic service.
Bottom line - the Congressman emphatically stood by his original statement.  Of course, our goal was not to change the Congressman's personal faith - we celebrate it - but to simply ask him to lift his rhetoric in such a way as to create a climate of inclusion and mutual respect for persons of all faiths in our nation.  The very good news is that Rep. Goode said he would accept an invitation to attend a Muslim event in the near future.  Your participation in this petition campaign certainly helped to make our meeting possible.  Your encouraging words to Mr. Goode - especially if you are from the 5th district of VA - will help open new windows of understanding.

Moveon Also (Mark - 1/25/2007 5:12:57 PM)
claims to be meeting with Virgil in the coming weeks. I got one of their emails.

Yes Mark (Gordie - 1/25/2007 6:38:05 PM)
I think it was MoveOn, but yes they got my comments also.

2 more petitions to Virgil. (Gordie - 1/25/2007 11:39:57 PM)

One to reverse the 2005 Military Commissions Act.

One to Fund SS and Medicare and keep the programs as they are. NO privitizing.
