These people are truly unbelievable. See here, here, here, here, here. Wonder how our right-wing blogger buddies are going to explain this one away. Whoops, I forgot, last we left our right-wing blogger buddies, they were busy defending Virgil Goode's anti-Muslim bigotry and making comments like all I can do with the Koran is piss on it." C'mon now, Virginia Republicans, can't you stick to your strong points, like making sure we all stay stuck in gridlock forever? Oh, and let's not forget taking away womens' right to control their bodies, making sure nobody has access to a decent wage or health insurance, and outlawing gays from Virginia? Those priorities should keep you busy for a while, don't ya think?
P.S. Click on the pic and tell Del. Hargrove what you think of his comments.
[UPDATE: The Washington Post covers the story, saying that Hargrove's "statements caused further consternation for Virginia Republicans, who are still recovering from the defeat of former U.S. Sen. George Allen last year, and who are preparing for a tough election year during which all 140 General Assembly seats will come open." The Post also has choice quotes from Del. Donald McEachin, Del. Dwight Clinton Jones, and Del. David Englin. Read the whole article here.]

Which comment is worse? (Lowell - 1/16/2007 2:49:18 PM)
1) "Are we going to force the Jews to apologize for killing Christ?"
or
2) "I personally think that our black citizens should get over it...By golly, we're living in 2007."
See, that's the thing about Republicans, they're all about choices. The only problem is, the choices all suck!
HUGE UPDATE WITH AUDIO!!!! (phriendlyjaime - 1/16/2007 3:52:56 PM)

Well, there you have it (Lowell - 1/16/2007 5:19:54 PM)
According to Del. Hargrove, the French shouldn't apologize to the Huguenots either. Plus, pretty much none of us grew up in the segregated South so we don't know what the heck we all are talking about anyhow. Harumph.
Part of th GOP Base (Newport News Dem - 1/16/2007 4:16:44 PM)
While canvassing for Jim Webb last fall, I got into a conversation with an older gentleman that went something like this:
I won't vote for a Democrat, that is the party of the Blacks and Jews.
I thought we are all Virginians
The Republican Party is the Virginia white man's party. Are you a Jew?
No, I am Irish Catholic and we were the subjects of discrimination a century ago.
O well, George Allen is going to beat the hell out of your guy Webb.
I think it will be close, but have a nice day.
I diaried this on KOS (phriendlyjaime - 1/16/2007 4:24:25 PM)

Great job, Jaime (Lowell - 1/16/2007 4:39:01 PM)
Now, please don't hate me! :)
And here I thought (CommonSense - 1/16/2007 6:55:42 PM)
the 5th had it in the bag for the "Worst Racist Idiot of the Year" award.
Oh well Virgil, I am sure you won't take this lying down...
Muslims, African-Americans, Jews....Who's left?
Hardboiled (hereinva - 1/16/2007 7:10:26 PM)
Hargrove's comment directed to Englin (D) Alexandria:
"I think your skin was a little too thin," he said as Republicans and Democrats gasped and groaned in disbelief.
Suggest Hargrove's been stewing in VA legislature long enough..his skin is TOO THICK..hardboiled-DONE !
Arrgh! (vabreeze - 1/16/2007 8:38:48 PM)
Is there no end to the embarrassment that Virginia Republican politicians will cause the state? For a moment, I thought Hargrove was my rep. Thankfully, it's Donald McEachin. Whew!
Eric Cantor (Kathy Gerber - 1/17/2007 7:47:58 AM)
How
embarassing.
One thing missing from Cantor's statement... (Kindler - 1/17/2007 9:45:04 PM)
...namely his apology for the crucifixion!
Seriously, this is the time to put pressure on Cantor, as the sole Jewish Republican in the House. Does he support Hargrove's anti-Semitic distortion of history? Has he sold out his people for a share of power -- a Jewish Uncle Tom?
