Governor Timothy M. Kaine signed an Executive Directive today that will help Virginia consumers better protect their confidential personal and financial information. The governor also signed an Executive Order setting deadlines and establishing Cabinet-level oversight in the continuing effort to improve the security of data held in state government computer networks.Given the recent explosion of identity theft and the federal GOP's failure to pass anything on data protection, the states have had to lead the way. Not sure what our state legislature has done - but good to see that Kaine isn't waiting on them.
