I received this press release from the Democratic Party of Virginia on the Republican "culture of corruption" crossing the Potomac.  How true.

For Immediate Release
October 11, 2005

(Richmond, VA) On Saturday October 15, White House Deputy Chief of Staff, Karl Rove, will visit Virginia to attend a fundraiser with Jerry Kilgore sponsored by the Fairfax County Republican Party.  Rove is involved in the federal investigation into the leak of CIA operative Valerie Plame.

This isn't the first time Jerry Kilgore has cozied up to someone under federal investigation. Kilgore has taken  $600,000 from John and Joseph Gregory, owners of King Pharmaceuticals currently under federal investigation for Medicaid fraud.

Kilgore knew that King Pharmaceuticals was under federal investigation yet still took thousands of dollars, chose not to investigate his top donor from the Attorney General's office, and continued to take money even after the investigation began.

"Jerry Kilgore has hid his head in the sand when an investigation pertains to one of his top donors or allies, just like he did during the eavesdropping scandal," said Mark Bergman, spokesman from the Democratic Party of Virginia.

"Jerry Kilgore should turn over a new leaf and cancel his fundraiser with Karl Rove and end the Republican 'culture of corruption'," added Bergman.

Virginians deserve a Governor who will protect them from corruption, not one who will welcome it.

Jerry Kilgore can't be trusted to protect Virginia from corruption.

Jerry Kilgore can't be trusted as Governor.
