Virgil Goode's scandalous past coming back to haunt him?

Via TPM, the Duke Cunningham mess is still simmering in the background:
At the House Appropriations Committee, the new chairman, Rep. David Obey (D-WI), had no sooner sat down and given his gavel a couple of test whacks before he was handed a subpoena from the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego demanding thousands of documents by January 11th. Even though prosecutors nailed Duke Cunningham, they continue to pursue the hanging threads of the investigation -- namely whether the defense contractors who bribed him had their hooks into other lawmakers and/or staffers. Since Duke's bad acts stretch back to at least 2000, it's a giant headache.
Duke Cunningham went to jail for being bribed by Mitch Wade (pictured above with Rep. Virgil Goode) and Brent Wilkes - officials of a company called MZM. And we've documented here before why any deeper investigation into MZM should worry Goode.

5th District (Gordie - 1/9/2007 10:53:09 AM)
My congradulations to the 5th for updating their web site and having Virgil's issues on their main page.
This issue cannot be left to die or any issue concerning Virgil Goode. He is too far out of the main stream and continues his 18th century thinking.
It is my belief a Congressman's main job is to lift his constituents to a higher level of education. From all news reports and listening to his constituents he has failed to do that.
Therefore he must GO.
