It's Official - Jim Webb is our US Senator

Having come home last night after the party in Arlington, I have been watching C-Span 1 and 2 all day enjoying the history being made today.

At 12:22 PM with Chuck Robb standing with him, Jim Webb was officially sworn in as our next great Senator-Statesman from Virginia. I was so proud of that moment, I was even able to overlook that it was Darth Cheney administering the oath to Senator Webb. Did you read that correctly??? I typed SENATOR WEBB!!!!!

Having seen that great event, I am now watching the House of Representatives electing their next Speaker. That final tally will take another half hour or so. We will then make history with our first woman in Speaker Nancy Pelosi

The best 2 words to describe what is unfolding on my TV screen.....HOT DAMN!

What a great day to be a Virginia Democrat!

Watching Webb walk down to take the oath with Warner and Robb was truly special.

Webb will apparently be on the Situation Room (CNN 4PM) so watch to see what he has to say.
