Let me start off by saying that in no way am I condoning acts of vandalism. While the pic below is humorous, poignant, and truthful, it is obvious that this addition to Virgil Goode's office door was certainly not requested nor paid for by the representaive from Virginia. In the end, the taxpayers will pay for its removal, and many people will shake their heads in disgust.
That being said, follow me for awesomeness.
Did Virgil deserve to have his window customized? Some may say no, but did anyone deserve to be treated the way Virgil Goode treats Muslims?
Goode, who will take his oath of office on the Bible, told constituents, "I fear that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America and to prevent our resources from being swamped."HELL NO.
Yesterday we learned that much to Virgil's chagrin, Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota will be taking his oath in a private ceremony with his hand placed on a copy of the Koran. But it's not just any old copy...
But get this: Ellison's going to take the oath -- in his private ceremony, mind you -- on a Koran donated to the Library of Congress by someone from Goode's own district.OUCH, Virgil. Stings a bit, huh?The gift comes from a deceased resident of Albemarle County, VA, represented in Congress today by Goode.
Well, you'd think that Virgil and his staff would be working round the clock to get a handle on this craziness, to try their best to salvage just a bit of Goode's reputation. But, no, actually, it appears that they aren't working AT ALL.
The addition to the window of Goode's Charlottesville office has been around since at least December 29. Goode's staff was not aware of the vandalization January 2 when a reporter called-- although it appeared someone had made an attempt to remove the word using fingernails or a coin. You go, Virgil. Keep on ignoring Virginia and the rest of America; because that worked really well for former senator George Allen (R-VA), didn't it?Goode "is not aware of any other such incidents at any of his offices," says Goode press secretary Linwood Duncan. The congressman declined to comment on the painting of "bigot" on his office window.
Could it have been a reaction to his email? "I would have no comment on that," says Duncan.
The Goode watch continues....
H/T to Waldo
How un-American that these 424 members pledged to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States and there was not a bible or koran to be found.
Virgil, we need you now more than ever! Please help us Glen Beck and Shaun Hannity and save us.
We await your comments............................
