Just a quick report from Jim Webb's swearing-in party tonight at the Clarendon Ballroom. Hopefully, we'll have some good photos later. The place was packed (it holds hundreds), with a line of people wanting to get in stretching down the street. Wow. The Locust Mountain Boys Bluegrass Band provided fine music as always. They also brought back memories; the last time I saw them was at the Shad Planking, which now feels like eons ago! :) There was lots of free beer, which is a Jim Webb signature ("There WILL be beer!") by this point. There were also a lot of great people, including current and future candidates like Chap Petersen, Janet Oleszek, and Bruce Roemmelt. Blogger sightings included Kenton Ngo and Ben Tribbett, plus FORMER blogger and new Webb staffer Conaway Haskins. I saw a ton of Webb for Senate staffers and volunteers, and it was great catching up. All in all, a fine event, even before the speeches. Unfortunately, I had to leave for a concert date with my wife. Priorities, priorities! :)

And you put the rest of us to shame...
Here's to hoping that not too many "significant others" of politicos read your blog ;o)
I almost made it. (thegools - 1/3/2007 8:51:37 PM)
But just before I walked out the door my kid came home from daycare with a fever. Priorities here too.
thanks for the link (Jambon - 1/4/2007 4:10:52 AM)
I just emailed that page to a couple of my Republican friends just to let them know it's "official".
I like to rub it in ;)

Jambon, my old pal, we need to repeal Va's right-to-work-for-less law to really see who our friends are!! I'm glad that Dan Duncan is now at the helm of No.Va. CLC.
amen. (Jambon - 1/4/2007 4:48:25 PM)
and Dan seems like a very VERY energetic guy! I'm excited about it too.
btw, that was a great letter you had published in the Alexandria Times!
Thanks (Matt H - 1/4/2007 7:17:05 PM)
BTW II - Any way L400 would be interested in organizing at the new Harris-Teeter in Alexandria on Duke St.? I refuse to step in the door of the place and would LOVE to help the cause.

all I can say when I watched the video is "he's so cool".
I just feel so good about Webb and it's such a relief to believe in someone versus the usual "least objectionable candidate" feeling of unease.
