Virgil Goode's most offensive moment?

What do you think is the most offensive moment so far about Virgil's current xenophobic escapade? For now, I'll suggest his comment to Fox News that he opposes a majority of Muslim representatives in the House. On top of this being a fear born in a fantasy world given the minuscule amount of Muslims in the country, this comment shows that he views a "Muslim" as a bad thing - so bad that he doesn't want to see them elected to Congress.

The mystery Muslim student (Kathy Gerber - 12/23/2006 2:04:27 PM)
"A Muslim student came by the office and asked why I did not have anything on my wall about the Koran."

Not as offensive as it is strange. If that's true, it's incidental to whatever real reason the student had for going by Goode's office in the first place.

The imagery is just off. There's this surreal aura of Muslim street boys parading about as protection racketeers whose goal in life is to pin Koran fragments to walls alongside the 10 commandments.

Sorry to be so fuzzy....

Obviously, I am kidding, but really, what are the odds a Muslim student came by, as Kathy asks above? Let's face it, he doesn't want to see others who are not like him.

Virgil's most offensive moment (Mark - 12/23/2006 5:50:54 PM)
I think it would be the tactics used and condoned by Virgil at the Franklin County Courthouse. The Courthouse isn't his, it isn't the Sheriff's, it isn't Joe Stanley's, (Chair in Franklin County). The courthouse belongs to everybody.

Second most offensive: Faux 'News' interview. The number of ways that was stupid are hard to count.

With a name like Ellison-yep sounds Muslim immigrant to me (presidentialman - 12/24/2006 3:30:01 AM)
I think the difference between Allen "saying welcome to America" to an American of Indian descent with a name like Sidarth, and Goode getting up in arms over a muslim adult using the Koran to be sworn into office, and then talking about muslims will invade our country if we don't start acting now, is slight but I think Allen can be defended.  Sidarth is an exotic sounding name and many Indians living in the US did just arive to America.  Goode's victim on the other hand, the guy's name is Keith Ellison for crying out loud.  That sounds more American/British to me.  We had Keith Moon and Keith Richards-both from the UK. And then we have Ralph Waldo Ellison, an American who wrote the Invisible Man.  And that's what really pisses me off about this whole flap, is that the only way to get immigrants out of Goode's thing is Ellison shares part of his name with the most famous immigration port-Ellis Island. The guy is White from Minnasota.  I think this needs to be addressed.  Ironically, the name Goode sounds like a group of people too Goode ol' Boys and with a name like Virgil....

Just another reason why we need smart people in elective office.
