Shorter Virgil: "what's the big deal?"

Or, in full:
... Goode said he will not apologize and does not see why his comments could be offensive to some Muslims. "The voters of each Congressional district select the representative that they choose to represent them, and perhaps voters in all districts will now ask prospective candidates whether they will use the Bible, the Koran, or anything else," Goode said.
Yeah, what kind of oversensitive crybaby would be offended by this?
"The Muslim Representative from Minnesota was elected by the voters of that district and if American citizens don't wake up and adopt the Virgil Goode position on immigration, there will likely be many more Muslims elected to office and demanding the use of the Koran." ...

"I fear that in the next century we will have many more Muslims in the United States if we do not adopt the strict immigration policies that I believe are necessary to preserve the values and beliefs traditional to the United States of America."

You know, it's completely inoffensive to want to exclude an entire group of people out of elected office, heck out of the country, based solely on their religion. Down right polite, even. Virgil Goode, such a gentleman.

I am so glad this clown is GOP. (thegools - 12/21/2006 12:54:14 PM)
I have heard that he once called himself a Democrat (when that wind favored him).

Does anyone have these quotes by him on video?  Goode's quotes would make a much bigger splash if one could see him saying it rather than seeing it written (even though his signature IS attached).
  It is the "Mac@ca" effect.

no - he said these things in a letter. (Rob - 12/21/2006 1:07:17 PM)

But, if he really stands behind these comments, someone should ask him to say them into a video camera. He doesn't sound ashamed - so let's get him in front of a camera!

Great idea! (JPTERP - 12/21/2006 1:44:27 PM)

I hope he's done some market research (JPTERP - 12/21/2006 1:02:28 PM)
to suggest that fear mongering and race baiting will sell in his district.  Because this line of attack seems pretty stupid to me.

I guess the sad reality is that Goode won't be able to bring jack-squat to his district in the next two to six years.  In the absence of concrete results, he's got to find some angle to justify his job and six-figure congressional salary.

Andrew Dice Clay could deliver the same stand-up routine for a tenth the cost.
