Does your local Republican stand behind Virgil Goode (R)?

Call 'em (or e-mail 'em) and find out. Congressmen, state leaders, senators, delegates - any of them. If you want to look up your own reps, use the useful tool on the left hand side of the Project Vote Smart website.
Ask 'em if the agree with their fellow Republican? If not, do they condemn his letter? Do they have any comments?
Let us know what you hear.
(UPDATE: FYI - Virgil will be on Fox News today to talk about his little letter.)
(UPDATE: Not a Republican reaction, but a reaction nonetheless. Jim Moran blasts Virgil in a statement).

That would be interesting! (mmc0412 - 12/21/2006 1:30:58 PM)
My Republican Congressman is Eric Cantor, a Jew!
Call him up! (Rob - 12/21/2006 1:34:48 PM)
http://cantor.house....
Tell his office you're a constituent and want your congressman's thoughts on Goode's letter.
I Just Sent an Email (mmc0412 - 12/21/2006 1:58:35 PM)
I just sent Congressman Cantor an email on the subject. I asked his opinion on the Virgil Goode matter as well as what his stance is on immigrants from the Middle East. I did not express my opinion in the matter at all hoping for an honest response (and not a "ooohh, let me pander to you" response).
Thanks. (Rob - 12/21/2006 2:01:25 PM)
Any response is good - either he has to support hateful comments or blast a fellow Republican.
If He Responds (mmc0412 - 12/21/2006 2:03:48 PM)
If he responds at all, it will probably be through snail mail, but we'll see.
Virginia is becoming famous (Rebecca - 12/21/2006 2:42:18 PM)
Virginia is becoming famous as the home of the "Good (Webb), the Bad (Virgil Goode), and the Ugly (George Allen)". Not to mention our traditional Episcopal churches who want to follow a homophobic bishop who wants to put gays in jail. These days Virginia seems to be the nexus for the clash of cultures.
Agreed, "Rebecca"; however... (cycle12 - 12/21/2006 3:17:56 PM)
...I remain optimistic about the future and am convinced that we, as a society, are continuing to get better with each campaign, each election, each passing year!
As proof positive, we have the recent elections of Warner, Kaine and Webb, not to mention many others at the state and local levels. We're certainly not a "red state" any more!
Plus, by "calling out" people like Virgil Goode, we're indicating that we won't tolerate that kind of thinking now, nor especially in the future - specifically his political future in this instance, as well as that of others like him.
It's only a matter of time before such attitudes are extinguished and, taking into account how things used to be in the 50's, 60's, 70's, etc., I can assure you that I have lived through worse times, ones that I now consider to be left mostly in the past.
As I grow older, I find that I am growing less and less tolerant of such behavior yet more and more patient in dealing with it, convinced that things will change for the best eventually if we continue to identify such problems and take decisive action to correct them.
Let's be sure to keep all this in mind for 2007 - and especially for 2008 - by taking the negative energy that they have forced upon us for the immediate future and turning it into positive results not too long from now.
In fact, we're going to have our chance to get started on that in just a couple of weeks, come to think of it...
Merry Christmas, happy holidays, happy new year, and thanks!
Steve
Thanks (Rebecca - 12/21/2006 3:51:41 PM)

Just Emailed (Gordie - 12/21/2006 3:59:42 PM)
Watkins Abbitt of the 59th House of Delegates asking for a response. Waiting.
