Virgil Goode and the xenophobic Christian Action Network

Just stumbled across this:

Who is the Christian Action Network? Put on your bio-hazard suit and take a stroll around their website.
Christian Action Network was founded in 1990 by Martin Mawyer, who based the organization on biblical principles, values, traditions and truths.  Mr. Mawyer's primary goal in establishing Christian Action Network (CAN) to protect America's religious and moral heritage through intensive lobbying efforts GÇö both in the nation's capital and at the grassroots level.
With their vision of Christian theocracy and a "Radical ISLAM WATCH," looks like they found a friend in Virgil! What other connections does he have with this group and those like it?

Let me get this straight. Virgil sent a form letter to an organization he is not a member of thanking them sending calling cards to our troops? Scandalous.

So many responses, so little time. (Rob - 12/20/2006 3:22:35 PM)
So, if Virgil sent out a form letter to the KKK, that would be okay?  Well, this group isn't espousing KKK-like racism, that's for sure, but they sure are doing their best to smear non-Christians with a pretty broad brush.

There are some groups you just don't affiliate with, unless you agree with their message. And, in this case (and given the recent news), I bet Virgil is quite comfortable with this group. Heck, this group pales in comparison to Virgil's letter.

And that doesn't even look like a form letter to me. A form letter wouldn't single out one contribution of phone cards - it would have been a lot more generic than that.  This looks a lot more like a deliberate and targeted letter.

I'll also add... (Rob - 12/21/2006 11:02:44 AM)
the scandal is Virgil's letter, not his interaction with this xenophobic group. What the letter does is make one wonder about his interaction with this group - has he only thanked them for their charity? Or is there more here - does he believe what they believe? Does he have more interaction with them or similar groups?
