A culture of bribery in Congress
The article mentions two people - Randy "Duke" Cunningham, the California Republican congressmen who just resigned after pleading guilty to taking $2.4 million in bribes, and this guy:
The Washington Post reported that Rep. Virgil Goode (R) received more than $80,000 in campaign donations from the employees of MZM - a defense firm that's an alleged co-conspirator in Cunningham's case - and then was the principal sponsor of a measure helping MZM get a contract in his district. He's since offered to refund the money.
Being used as an example of the "culture of bribery" in Washington? Being linked in the national press to the company that sank a soon-to-be-jailed congressman? Things aren't looking good for Rep. Goode's reputation, and we're only a month away from 2006.
