A few comments on Jerry Kilgore's interview in today's Culpeper Star Exponent:.
Does the Culpeper Star Exponent have a policy of running political op-eds as straight news copy? One would certainly think so based on the gushing, uncritical article written about Kilgore. He's "cool, calm, and confident?" He "knows the value of open government" (because he was a school newspaper editor)? Oh, ok. And they say blogs are biased and irresponsible?
What a puff piece! Did you ever hear of asking tough questions and examing candidate's statements critically? We here at RaisingKaine believe it's called "Jouralism 101."
Kilgore says he thinks "people are so easily offended these days." Hey Jerry, you mean like when Russ Potts enters the governor's race as an "Independent Republican" and your campaign goes off the deep end into complete and utter freakout mode? (By the way, have you and your not-easily-offended right wing buddies succeeded yet in excommunicating Potts from the Republican Party? Or were you planning to burn him at the stake instead?)
How long are you going to keep contradicting yourself on Tim Kaine? One minute, you're saying he's trying to be just like you (uh, don't think so Jerry), then the next minute you're saying he's "the most liberal candidate Virginia has seen in a long time" (yeah, being fiscally conservative, religious, and personally anti-abortion is really "liberal!").
It's nice that you want to be not just "good," but "great." But, before you get to "great," how about starting with "mediocre" first? And, just as an historical aside, you DO realize that your comment about "just making the trains run on time" is normally used when referring to Italian Fascist World War II dictator Benito Mussolini? Perhaps you have found a new political role model for the far-right wing, irresponsible, and fiscally disastrous policies you advocate?
