Make your 2008 and beyond predictions now

Let's have a little Friday afternoon fun. This post got me thinking, what do you think will happen in the state-wide and presidential races in the coming years? Let's hear your predictions (asidefrom what you want to see happen). Here's mine:

Clinton/Warner lose to McCain/Romney.

J. Warner v. Deeds in 2008 - Warner wins.

Beyer v. Bolling in 2009 -  Beyer wins.

Webb retires, Kaine v. Davis in 2012 - Kaine wins.

Obama/Clark 2012 beats McCain/Romney.

J. Warner retires, M. Warner beats Davis in 2014.

Ok, maybe some of that was wishful thinking. Think you can do better - show us in the comments. Predictions are not what you think should happen, so no bashing other people for their predictions. Just have some Friday afternoon fun in the comments.

Ah, nice twist. (Rob - 12/8/2006 2:05:46 PM)

Guess (Gordie - 12/9/2006 8:56:54 AM)
in my old age I have lost my sense of humor. I have looked at these predictions for the third time.
I find nothing funny in these predictions.
I do find a lot of insults toward the thinking and political ability of some candidates and Arragance equal to the slimmy thinking of Republicans.

A Pattern has devleoped (Newport News Dem - 12/8/2006 2:24:03 PM)
Clinton/Clark in '08 and '12

Bush/Pawlenty in '16 and '20

Chelsa Clinton and Jenna Bush unity ticket in '24 and '28 as the country is tired of excessive partisanship!

Jeb's Boy (Teddy - 12/8/2006 2:28:18 PM)
Remember there is a Bush dynasty still waiting, and Jeb's boy (another George, I believe) is more like W than his Dad, and some Republicans are looking to groom him for Big Things... Since the Bushes like to start at the top (forget getting your ticket punched in entry-level jobs), maybe a Senator Bush from Florida followed by another President Bush by 2012 or 2016? McCain's getting long in the tooth, and does have health problems, so he has to grab the brass ring sooner rather than later. And Sam Brownback is coming up fast. Obviously, if the Democrats don't deliver during their 2 years of glory 2007-09, then it will be a Republican comeback in 2008 for sure.

Re Jeb (Rob - 12/8/2006 2:34:12 PM)
I seriously think that his younger brother has destroyed any chance at him becoming president.

This is fun. (elevandoski - 12/8/2006 3:20:06 PM)
Bayh/Obama beat McCain/Romney in 2008

Bobby Scott beats John Warner in 2008

Mark Warner beats Bob McDonnell in 2009

Tim Kaine beats whoever GOP in 2012

Obama/Webb beats whoever GOP in 2012

Yeah, why didn't Bayh run for re-election? (Rob - 12/8/2006 3:31:02 PM)
Also, keep going - who does Kaine beat?

Damn! Too many great Democrats! (elevandoski - 12/8/2006 3:59:05 PM)
I was blinded with my desire to get Webb on the ballot.  Of course, its Bayh/Obama in 2012.  Webb runs for re-election.

What Happened (Newport News Dem - 12/8/2006 3:28:41 PM)
to Bayh?

He did not run for reelection in '12!!

My Guesses (DukieDem - 12/8/2006 5:06:12 PM)
Obama/Warner defeats McCain/Huckabee in 08
-Webb appointed Secretary of Defense, Kaine appoints Don Beyer to finish Webb's term
Tom Davis defeats Creigh Deeds in Senate 08
Bonus: Leslie Byrne beats GOP whoever in 11th
Warner defeats McDonnell in 09
special election 2010: Beyer defeats Bolling

Predictions (LoudounYoungDem - 12/8/2006 9:41:34 PM)
Clinton/Clark beats Romney/Huckabee in 08
In the 11th, Hurst runs again and beats whatever GOP
For VA Senate, Warner does retire and Deeds beats McDonnell
M. Warner beats Bolling in 09
Clinton/Clark wins reelection in 2012

Are you on crack? (totallynext - 12/8/2006 10:04:03 PM)
the top ticket no way in 2008 will be McCain/Rommey.  Look at the electorate - we are moving away from conservatism back to the middle and leaning left.  That may be what comes out of the convention but it will not win in the general election.

The up ticket will be Gore/Clark

I LOVE the Gore/Obama ticket, actually. (phriendlyjaime - 12/8/2006 10:09:48 PM)
And by the way, I seriously doubt anyone here is on crack.

crack statement was a snark (totallynext - 12/11/2006 11:32:32 PM)

I hope you're right. (Rob - 12/11/2006 6:17:32 PM)
I was just making a prediction. Giving how McCain v. Hillary polls are shaping up right now, I'm guessing I'm not on crack.

McCain/Romney (libra - 12/8/2006 11:09:31 PM)
would be a very strange pair to be yoked together... :) And who's Bredesen?

I like (Newport News Dem - 12/9/2006 11:23:03 AM)
my choice of Pawlety, Gov of Minn., as the GOP Veep.....

Don't tell them!

Bredesen (pvogel - 12/9/2006 8:17:42 AM)
Governer of tennesee... a southern governer.... the tix pix for the usa......

Y'all are scaring me (Catzmaw - 12/11/2006 6:29:06 PM)
I don't even know who some of these people are, so I'm going to sit back, wait and see who it is, then go around telling everyone that I predicted it way back when.  This is called post-menopausal prescience.

Sign me up (CommonSense - 12/11/2006 8:27:03 PM)
great pm minds think alike

I don't know.. (Kathy Gerber - 12/11/2006 8:40:29 PM)
catzmaw stands to lose her powers if she keeps giving away party secrets :)

Lemme give this a shot... (Neal2028 - 12/11/2006 7:59:15 PM)
Edwards/Obama defeats McCain/Brownback
Davis v. Beyer in 2008 - Beyer wins.
M. Warner v. McDonnell in 2009 - Warner wins (big).
Webb (who won't retire) v. Davis in 2012 - Webb wins (with more than a 7,000 vote margin)
Edwards/Obama defeats J.Bush/Frist (And I'd have to laugh if Edwards won Florida.  Ha!)

Neal... (Rob - 12/11/2006 11:26:46 PM)
very good predictions.

What's up with your blog these days? Will you posting new stuff soon?

yeah (Neal2028 - 12/11/2006 11:56:50 PM)
I've been meaning to get it started again, and I intend to in the near future.  I'll either use the address it's at now, or get a whole new one.  So keep an eye out!

You need bolder predictions than that... (Kindler - 12/11/2006 10:20:33 PM)
2026: John Warner says he will run again, aiming to celebrate his 100th birthday in the Senate.  Trent Lott Jr. will be Master of Ceremonies.

In his campaign, Warner plans to emphasize his opposition to Twin Presidents Barbara and Jenna Bush's plan to use the new U.S. base on Mars to launch a war on Jupiter because of their contention that "it, like, might, y'know, be harboring terrorists and stuff."

Try these on for size... (novademocrat - 12/12/2006 12:08:24 PM)
Obama/Biden beat Romney/Brownback 2008

J. Warner retires - Beyer v. Davis 2008 - Beyer wins

M. Warner v. G. Allen 2009 - Warner in a landslide

2012: Webb v. Eric Cantor - Webb wins (by 3%)

Obama/Biden re-elected v.  Haley Barbour/Susan Collins

2014 - Beyer wins re-elect v. Cantor by slim margin

McCain/Romney??? (Left Wing - 12/13/2006 9:58:34 AM)
I don't think so!

McCain is too old, too centrist and way too independent-thinking for the neo-cons.  They need another brainless patsy like Bush.....and since Allen is no longer viable, they'll have to come up with someone else.

I know many evangelicals.  They think Morman's are in the same catagory as devil worshippers.  Romney won't even leave the starting gate.

I see Edwards/Clinton beating the republican ticket.

Alright, here's my shot.... (bladerunner - 12/15/2006 8:44:58 PM)
Richardson/Clark or Hillary lose to Brownback/Jeb Bush 08

Mark Warner beats Tom Davis 08

Brian Moran loses to George Allen 09...With the Climate so anti GOP, and Allen only losing by 9,000 votes, Allen considers himself lucky and still remanins confident of his base. Allen will paint Brian Moran as a liberal like his Bro congressman Moran and win.

Sorry about this one.....Don't think Hillary will be involved in Presidential run because I think she'll eventually realize that can't win the national election, and is not ready to become tarnished--maybe later. She might take a possible VP nomination though. I do think Hillary can serve the country much better from New York.
