The Rise of the Anti Blogs

I've been highlighting an anti-Dave Albo site called Albo Must Go  from time to time - a website by the Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC).

I had missed (as one of their volunteers pointed out via email), that FCDC also have a very similar site targeting Ken Cuccinelli (another subtle google-bomb) called "Kookinelli." I'm adding it to the blogroll.

My questions - are there any other sites like this out there for other Virginia GOP incumbents?  How effective do you think these sites are?  Anybody here planning (or know of plans) for an expansion of this battlefront?

During the last election some of us put up a website called tomdavistruth.com. We had a great investigative reporter who was a volunteer. Not sure she wants me to mention her name here. We decided to leave the site up because we think Davis may run for the Senate and we want to use it then and keep it current. This site is still being updated in a timely manner so check it out.

I think the best way to make these sites effective is to advertise them. We had business cards made up which said:

"Learn the truth about Tom Davis" and listed the website URL at the bottom. We put the cards into the driver's side window of cars which had in-state license plates and which didn't display any obvious right-wing bumper stickers. In other words, we tried to target swing voters. We also made up some flyers advertising the site just before the election and put them on cars.

We know the main stream media is not going to report the truth about GOP candidates so I think Democrats need to use the power of the internet to do this job. There is a lot of information about these candidates floating around both from verbal reports and other websites which report on the Hill. All that is needed is for one or more people to do some research to get the truth out.

I suggest, however, that the sites stick with the facts and not get too shrill such as in name calling, etc. Just the facts, as detective Friday used to say. That makes the sites more credible.

Its hard to measure how effective these sites are. I think that depends on getting the word out. I can say I think it is more effective to use these sites than not to use them.

From 2005, BlackOut2005.com (elevandoski - 12/8/2006 12:58:45 PM)
Quite successful, if I say so myself, in helping oust Dick Black.  I'm toying with the idea of doing one on the obstruction that is Leo Wardrup.  I just wish there were more hours in the day!!!

Anti - Hugo blog (NovaDem - 12/9/2006 12:43:42 AM)
I have heard that there will be an anti-Hugo blog as well, in fact it might be Hugo must Go.  I will check back in when I find out it has gone live.

For all Fairfax GOP incumbents (adshubert - 12/11/2006 10:50:45 AM)
From what I've heard, this sort of effort is being launched against all Fairfax Co. GOP incumbents.  Whether there are enough moderators is the trick.

there was also... (Bwana - 12/12/2006 1:00:55 PM)
