although this site is not mentioned by name.  There is an op ed piece in today's NY Times by Daniel Glover and Mike Essel that talks about bloggers going to work for politicians.  The part relevant to this site is
After the Virginia Democratic primary, for instance, James Webb hired two of the bloggers who had pushed to get him into the race.

There is more worth reading.
Let me offer just a few snippets.

Over the past few years, bloggers have won millions of fans by speaking truth to power GÇö even the powers in their own parties GÇö and presenting a fresh, outsider perspective. They are the pamphleteers of the 21st century, revolutionary GÇ£citizen journalistsGÇ¥ motivated by personal idealism and an unwavering confidence that they can reform American politics.

Few of these bloggers shut down their GÇ£independentGÇ¥ sites after signing on with campaigns, and while most disclosed their campaign ties on their blogs, some GÇö like Patrick Hynes of Ankle Biting Pundits GÇö did so only after being criticized by fellow bloggers.
  - gee I think that might be a dig at this site?

GÇ£This intersection isnGÇÖt going away,GÇ¥ Jerome Armstrong of MyDD, an elite blogger hired by campaigns, wrote earlier this year, GÇ£and I hope more and more bloggers are able to work to influence how campaigns are run.GÇ¥

Oh, and there is a link to a graphic that gives names and numbers.  If when you bring the link up, and click to enlarge, you will be able to see payments to ABRAHAM (sic) Chernila and Lowell Feld of 7,700 and 3.600 respectively (hmm, Lowell, did you only get half of what Josh did?) as well as offering some nice quotes.

Congratulations on the attention, at least I think so?

In my opinion... (cycle12 - 12/3/2006 10:27:00 AM)
...this is accurate, excellent, important and timely news, "teacherken"!  Please remember that I was introduced to blogging by this site when the infamous Mudcat/Miller argument broke out at my home back in March.

Briefly, I was called the next day by a fellow circuit court clerk in northern Virginia, telling me all about the incident in great - and correct - detail and referring me to Raising Kaine.

That made me an instant believer in the power and "reach" of blogs and blogging, and the more familiar I become with the "art and science" of blogging, the more impressed I am with it.

There is no doubt in my mind that this and other blogs were instrumental in electing Tim Kaine and Jim Webb, and for that - if for nothing else - I will be forever grateful to RK.

Keep up the great work, all you bloggers, and thanks again!

Steve

I've been wondering what it takes to "turn on the light" (Josh - 12/3/2006 11:01:49 AM)
I've been too busy to do any good blogging lately, but I'm inspired by your story, Steve.

Thank you for all of your help and insight through this election.  A friend indeed...

You guys did the impossible (tobrien - 12/3/2006 11:20:40 AM)
Seriously, keep doing what you are doing here.  It isn't just changing Virginia, it's changing the country.

Congrats (Alice Marshall - 12/3/2006 11:31:49 AM)
A mention in the NYT will only bring more readers. Well done.

Interesting article, teacherken. (Kathy Gerber - 12/3/2006 1:46:15 PM)
And they certainly selected great quotes from Josh and Lowell.  I really miss Lowell and even all of his exclamation marks that used to drive me kukalaka crazy :|  Congratulations to Josh and Lowell - your just the cat's pajamas.

And welcome aboard to new readers and posters!

Read the article (libra - 12/4/2006 3:24:19 AM)
this morning (er... *yesterday* morning, seeing as it's 4th of Dec now ) and was amused by the "balance".

Even though the article *says* both Dems and and Repubs have been employing bloggers in their campaigns, the only example of a 'pub blogger they quote is the one of Allen's. It's like the mirror image of the articles about the corruption on the Hill; they *say* both sides do it, then quote 5 'pubs and one Dem... :)
