South Africa will be the first African country where gays can marry when a new law goes into effect on Friday. http://news.bbc.co.u...

The law was approved by MPs two weeks ago despite objections from religious groups and traditional leaders.

The Constitutional Court ruled last year that the existing laws discriminated against homosexuals.

I wish this person was in our House of Delegates:

During the parliamentary debate earlier this month, Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula told MPs: "In breaking with our past... we need to fight and resist all forms of discrimination and prejudice, including homophobia."

According to Wikipedia:

Countries that recognize same-sex marriage are the Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, and Spain.

"Civil Unions" or "Registered Partnerships" are recognized in Denmark, Greenland (with direct flights from Dulles available!) Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Andorra, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Slovenia, Switzerland, Czech Republic, the Australian states of Tasmania and Australian Capital Territory, and some regions of Italy.
