So Much for Tim Kaine Being a "Far Left Liberal"

As if more proof were needed that Tim Kaine is a moderate, centrist, middle-of-the-road, (did I miss any synonyms here?) Mark Warner Democrat, now comes news that NARAL (National Abortion Rights Action League) Pro-Choice Virginia, a leading abortion-rights group, will not endorse any candidate in this year's gubernatorial race.  Reason?  Because Tim Kaine's strong Christian (Roman Catholic) faith makes him personally opposed to abortion, although he has stated that he fully intends to uphold the law of the land, Roe v. Wade, when he's elected governor this November.

So, how can anti-abortion, right-wing Republicans reconcile this non-endorsement by NARAL with their claim that Tim Kaine is a "far-left liberal," exactly?  Here's one idea: Tim Kaine is a complex human being, like every other human being on the planet, with a mixture of views that do not fit neatly into an ideological cubbyhole.  Here's another: Tim Kaine is a man who thinks for himself, is guided by conviction, and does not sway with the political winds or change his views simply to gain an endorsement by a particular interest group.  In other words, Tim Kaine's exactly the kind of guy we want as governor to carry on Mark Warner's successful, sensible, centrist policies for the next four years.

P.S.  NARAL did endorse Leslie Byrnes and Creigh Deeds, both of whom are strongly pro-choice, demonstrating once again that there is diversity on this Democratic ticket of ours - another strength, in my opinion.

[UPDATE 8/17:  Today's Washington Post quotes NARAL as calling Jerry Kilgore "extremely anti-choice," and saying that they "see more hope for the women of Virginia in Kaine's candidacy."  They also urge Russ Potts to stay"right where he is," in the State senate.]
