Virginia League of Conservation Voters Legislative Heroes

Delegate Jennifer McClellanDelegate David EnglinThe Virginia League of Conservation Voters has released its 2006 scorecard.  Overall things are looking up in the Old Dominion. The average House scorecard was up 16% and the average Senate scorecard was up 12% from 2005.  No Delegates scored below 25% and only 4 Senators were in the sludge zone: Hanger, McDougle, Newman, and Wagner (all Republicans).

The 2006 Legislative Heroes list is a who's who of fantastic Legislators.  We can be proud that they're all Democrats:

Our Legislative Leaders show special dedication to conservation priorities.  The five delegates and three senators ... deserve a special show of support for their hard work, and for showing that their dedication to long term environmental concerns takes priority over the sometimes more popular quick fixes.

Only one legislator from outside of Northern Virginia scored a 100%.  Congratulations to Delegate Jennifer McClellan.

Northern Virginia by far scored the best.  Scoring a perfect score were Senator Patcy Ticer, Senator Toddy Puller, Senator Janet Howell, Delegate Adam Ebbin, Delegate David Englin, Delegate Ken Plum, and Delegate Jim Scott.

Also scoring highly and being honored as "75% and above" were Northern Virginia Democrats like Senator Mark Herring, Senator Mary Margaret Whipple, Delegate Chuck Caputo, Delegate David Bulova, Delegate Al Eisenberg, Delegate Steve Shannon, Delegate Bob Hull, Delegate Brian Moran, Delegate Mark Sickles, Delegate Vivian Watts, Delegate Kris Amundson and Delegate Bob Brink.

What do we know about those low-scorers you highlight?  We should be keeping marks against them somewhere in anticipation of the 2007 elections.

Suggestions on how to do that?

For my Senator Patsy Ticer and Delegate Adam Ebbin. Many usually don't associate Sen. Ticer with Arlington, but she represents 12 South Arlington precincts, including mine. Effective senator!
