I have "Beef" with PETA

A woman came up to me with her baby in its stroller and patronized me for eating my plate of fried chicken, saying it was "Unjust."  I replied, "Well, I can eat your child if you wish."  She shut up.

I was sitting down thinking to myself, what does PETA really think they are providing?  Other than a large source of even larger jokes, and a place to go for anal retentive mothers whos children don't return their phone calls anymore.  First and formost they try to protect animals such as cows, sheep, chickens, and fish.  I even found an article that spawned a literary binding(I refuse to call it a book) on how fish had intelligence, and that we were limiting the worlds intelligent animals by killing these fish and eating them.  First of all here is a list of things that fish have done for us:

1)

In the article it also mentioned that you would never put a hook through a dogs mouth.  I also don't see dogs running around in packs of a 1000.  In the article it said that "Once people start to understand that fish, although they come in different packaging, are just as intelligent, they'll stop eating them."  First things first, fish don't really care or worry about getting eaten.  I have my doubts that when they see a hook they worry that when they skewer their face with it, they will die.  They wouldn't do that if it were the case.  In addition, fish provide a healthy portion of a daily diet.  People with heart problems have come to the conclusion that fish reduce the risk of heart attack.  Is PETA simply trying to protect the humble creatures of the sea, or are they screwing over our heart patients?  I believe the answer is clear.  An executive even said "We'd rather go too far than not far enough."  If so then he should become a priest.

The funny thing is, PETA is protesting against the eating of common farmyard animals that do absolutely nothing but get old and sick.  Those animals live a happy and fulfilling life being fed the highest quality of food, and then at the prime of their existence they are killed.  PETA though, would rather them live to become very old, weak, and misreable.  Good job guys.  Good job indeed.

This isn't really the most insightful political or PETA based blog ever to exist, it was just a fun first thing to write.

Diary (Susan Mariner - 11/16/2006 11:05:41 PM)
I thought your diary was very funny and hope you do more of this here.  Things get very serious sometimes, and in my opinion it's good to see a lighthearted diary.

Ummm, Ghandi said something like "The greatness of a nation is in how they treat their animals and children."  To clarify, there is no moment of pleasure in factory farming.

Just think about it. How would anyone like a giant magnifying glass focused on them.  I hope you were kidding. But then again rats have rights....

Retort? (Corporate_Zombie - 11/17/2006 5:03:33 PM)
Ghandi also didn't eat very much.  Factory farming leads to the mass production of animals bred to supply food for the masses, this food is then distributed among the 60 companies operating the factory farming industry, they distribute it accordingly to areas of need of this food, this food is then packaged, put up for a qualified price, and sold to consumers.  Consumers eat the food to stay healthy and fit, enjoying themselves, while the major companies attain money and stay happy, keeping the established markets working and paying their employees with an according paycheck.  I see more than enough moments of ecstasy, including the animals who are given food rich in vitamins to quicken their growth process, living a pleasing life up til their end, with the exception of the veal industry.

Snort (seveneasypeaces - 11/17/2006 6:28:20 PM)
Should I get graphic?  Beaks chopped off to keep them from pecking each other to death while they stand crammed in wire cages.  Factory farming is for the corporate dollar. The corporate GM franken food of today and tomorrow will hardly keep people fit and healthy.  Zombies are on the horizon.  The microwave generation will take a massive jump into the unknown.  They will catch up to you soon....

Factories and their dirty habits (Corporate_Zombie - 11/18/2006 3:43:52 AM)
So factories and corporations create their own special currency?  Remove this food from the population and all that is left is zombies of that damned corporation.  They are coming.
