Thanks to two engaging opponents -- independent candidates Andre Peery and Barbara Jean Pryor -- Goodlatte should return to Washington, D.C., knowing that good, capable people stand ready to replace him.Peery and Pryor delivered Goodlatte's first challenge in many years. The race isn't competitive, given the benefits of incumbency enjoyed by Goodlatte and the poorly financed campaigns of his challengers. However, both independents are to be congratulated for entering the race; they brought fresh and worthy ideas to the electorate.
Pryor and Peery each garnered roughly 12% of the vote in the 6th.
Thanks for stepping up to the plate and reminding us all of the value of participation.
The Senate race in this state really shows how part of the population want to stick to the status quo and others want a change. Just maybe state wide Virginia has crossed the barrier of status quo and have begun to care about leadership.
May no one get the wrong impresstion. Allen was a good candidate who made too many mistakes, it is just that Webb will be a far better leader. We in Virginia need the best of the best, not the status quo.
