NLS is reporting on a potential primary next year between Delegate Donald McEachin and State Senator Benny Lambert.
I can't speak to Senator Lambert's decision this year to endorse George Allen and I won't. I will state, unequivocally, that Senator-Elect Jim Webb had a true ally throughout this campaign in Delegate McEachin.
Donald McEachin is one of the great heroes of the campaign that made Jim Webb today's Senator-Elect from the Commonwealth of Virginia. In May, he became an early endorser, and continued to carry the banner high for the Webb campaign.
GÇ£Above all other things, Donald McEachin knows what it means to lead. He is among the brightest and most respected elected officials in Virginia, and IGÇÖm thankful for his support.GÇ¥ Jim Webb May 30, 2006
When others attempted smear the character of Senator-Elect Webb, Donald McEachin had the courage to stand up for a man of true integrity. In my mind, that makes him a man of true courage and integrity himself, worthy of enduring support.

when Jim needed him. That's loyalty, and that's cool. Hats off Donald.
I was wondering (Catzmaw - 11/8/2006 5:43:55 PM)
who that big guy was. There was a Republican "smearmercial" called "Sold Man" and set to the tune of "Soul Man" which featured pictures of Webb campaigning with Mr. McEachin. I saw it on Youtube. Of course it was disabled for comments so I didn't even get to attack the implicit racism of the thing, but WE WON!! so who cares about what those jerks put out there?
Go Donald (DukieDem - 11/8/2006 5:49:16 PM)
Time's up Benny.

Imagine, in a primary, McEachin showing a picture of Lambert at the Allen rally last night.

Goodbye Donald R., hello Donald M.! (Kindler - 11/8/2006 9:13:26 PM)
My checkbook stands open and ready to support Donald McEachin whenever he chooses to run against Benedict Arnold Lambert (bet you didn't know his full name)...
webb is being used- (demo925 - 11/9/2006 5:56:04 AM)
Don went with Webb in the primary because Benny was going with Miller. In fact Don had even verbally committed to Miller. Not that any of this really matters but it should be known that Don got involved because he has always wanted to run for the senate.
This is silly (Lowell - 11/9/2006 6:57:17 AM)
Politics is always a combination of self-interest, ideology, and personal relationships.
Republican Apologist v. Committed Democrat (brimur - 11/9/2006 10:27:00 AM)
Regardless of the Miller-Webb primary maneuvering, the fact remains that Benny went with Allen and Don stuck with Webb. I can't vote for Don because I don't live in the district, but I will support him any way that I can in the primary. Go Don!
