The Minuteman Project did not endorse George Allen. This is the national group that is led by Jim Gilchrist.
The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps PAC did. They are led by Chris Simcox
I'm a little confused on what the difference is really because I don't follow this stuff, but it does seem they are separate groups and MCDC is much more infused with the Republican party, which would explain why they would endorse someone who could care less about their agenda....I'll bet it's more about keeping the Senate red and then they have some other links which are a little more "questionable" than the MMP in terms of affiliates.
I know because I blasted the minuteman project PR guy with Allen's record and how in God's name could they endorse this guy when he is for massive guest worker Visas, Skil Bill, his voting record is absolutely horrific on any interior enforcement, voted against border security repreatedly and the PR guy responded with a (don't blame us) "we didn't do it, MCDC did".
But for sure Allen implying he has magically joined the conservative immigration caucus all of a sudden is an absolute joke. Just the fact he co-sponsored the Skil Bill and is for guest worker Visas would get him kicked out. They are "no amnesty ever" in that camp, but they would never support guest worker Visas either. They say there is no such thing as a temporary Visa.
Not the same group at all as the Minuteman Project. In fact the Minuteman Project has complained that MCDC has given them little of the money they were promised, and the Wash. Times ran a series of articles a couple of months ago exposing MCDC for shady fundraising and failure to adequately account for where the money donated to them goes.
So just where *is* MCDC's money going? I'd guess most of it goes to buy more bulk mail lists from Response Unlimited and send out more junk mail to bilk more seniors out of their social security checks so they can use the money to buy more mailing lists and send more junk mail, ad nauseum...
Thanks again -
