Right-Wing "Free Republic" Reading List

A few years ago, back before Jim Webb had the audacity to challenge George Allen for U.S. Senate, the right-wing FreeRepublic.com, which bills itself as "A Conservative News Forum," came up with its "Military History and Strategy Readling List." Guess what? Alongside "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu and "Blackhawk Down" were the following suggestions:
*"Anything written by James Webb."
*"Amen on James Webb. Fields of Fire, particularly."
Interesting, huh? All those conservative minds warped by Jim Webb's "fiction" writing? Ha.
P.S. Thanks to Kathy Gerber for pointing me to this.

Awesome find (KathyinBlacksburg - 10/29/2006 10:06:13 AM)
This brings Free Republic's (along with the rest of the Allen A and B teams) hypocrisy to the stratosphere.
All I can say to Kathy's find is, "I'm not worthy!"
Good project... (Lowell - 10/29/2006 11:21:55 AM)
...look around other right-wing websites and blogs for similar such praise for Webb's writings. I'm sure there's more out there, given what a great author he is, and also given that fact that he writes about war, which the right-wingers seem to love. Ha.
They've purged pretty well. (Kathy Gerber - 10/29/2006 12:23:22 PM)
They've been doing that ever since Webb announced. They had to because they needed to do 180 degrees on Webb.

Make sure you take a screen shot of that page before they take it down...
Sweet!! Kathy Rocks. (Catzmaw - 10/29/2006 12:43:34 PM)
This is great stuff. I'm off to taunt more conservative bloggers and newspaper editors. Thanks for the ammo. Everyone should flood all those sites with this stuff.
How about (Used2Bneutral - 10/29/2006 12:55:22 PM)
That famous George Peppard Line (which was stolen from somebody) "Don't You Love It When A Plan Comes Together"
or that famous cyclic chant....

#2 Insert Foot
#3 Chew....

Al Rodgers posted this on Daily Kos and it is quite good. Deals with how phony the novel-gate tactic is. Mathews said: Just because Tolstoi wrote about the burning of Moscow doesn't mean he wanted to burn Moscow.
And Kathy Gerber, you rock AND roll.
My wife, incidentally, says we are spending far too much time on this novel-gate issue, and that the only people who will respond to it are his base.
Al Rodgers has some good videos up, though, so you may want to pay a visit there.
