Women Choose Webb!

I am sick and tired of Virginia's junior Senator pretending that he cares about women's issues.  Many of the economic issues that Jim Webb is fighting for are issues that affect women the most: poverty, lack of healthcare, erosion of the middle class, education, pay disparity, unemployment, underemployment, etc.  Like many of you, I wonder about the Republican "family values" message.  Poverty is not a family value.  Pay disparity is not a family value.  The current minimum wage is not a family value.  Lack of healthcare is not a family value.  Job outsourcing is not a family value.

We must elect Jim Webb to the U.S. Senate, so these issues can get the attention they deserve!

Please join us on Monday, October 30, 2006, because...

Jim Webb WILL (kevinceckowski - 10/27/2006 4:48:44 PM)
get our troops home with dignity and that IS a family value.  Sending them to Iraq was terribly stupid, as Jim wrote in his 2002 Washington Post piece, a full year before going to war.

Bringing everyone's family back together again and doing it RIGHT is what Jim will fight for, to be sure.

Senator Allen is now listening to the polls and not his president and changing his tune so that one and all will vote him back into office so he can then sit back on his duff and let the president dictate to him once again.

Jim Webb will fight for our families EVERYDAY because first off his son is fighting over there and second, he believes we went into this war for the wrong reasons....the tail wagging the dog.

kc.

Absolutely! (Ingrid - 10/27/2006 4:50:29 PM)
War is not a family value!

Ingrid.. (drmontoya - 10/27/2006 4:54:23 PM)
I will see if my wife can attend!

She's not political, but she's tired of George Allen's crap.

She wants someone to represent her, and the issues she cares about. That's Jim Webb.

Why George Allen is... (Lowell - 10/27/2006 5:24:06 PM)
...bad for women.

Why Women (Lowell - 10/27/2006 5:24:53 PM)
choose Webb!

This Middle Aged Woman (Catzmaw - 10/27/2006 6:12:23 PM)
Is tired of being told she should still be mad at Jim Webb for something he wrote when she was about 75 pounds lighter and still had dark hair.

I'm far more interested in whether he's going to help bring our troops home, try to get a handle on the deficit, work to increase minimum wages, increase access to health care, and stop giving tax breaks to rich people.  I know Allen won't do those things.  I have a very long political memory and know for a fact all that stuff he's claiming about his great governorship is mostly bushwa (if you'll pardon the phrase).  All the undecided voters out there who moved to this state within the last ten years should ask some of us who were around for Allen's policies what he was like then.  And then look at what he hasn't done as a US Senator for the last six years.

Just as an aside. They look really cute together. (Catzmaw - 10/27/2006 6:13:42 PM)

Webb and Women (seamusotoole - 10/27/2006 7:06:36 PM)
Webb is totally for the Family and Medical Leave Act which
George Allen has voted against Three different times.  He also voted against expanding it to cover victims
of violence and sexual assault.  Usually women are the caretakers in the family.  Allen doesn't want a woman to be able to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave to care for an elderly relative or newborn child.  He's against victims of domestic violence and sexual assault being able to take leave from work for up to 30 days.

He's voted against raising the minimum wage in Virginia which adversely effects women but has voted to give himself a raise four times since he's been in Senate.

Please clue me in as to how George Allen gives one hoot about women.  Jim Webb will represent women in the Senate George Allen sure won't and never has.

Absolutely (TurnVirginiaBlue - 10/27/2006 7:26:24 PM)
Webb is walking the walk and I am also very sick and tired of Allen lying his head off.  By his policies it's pretty obvious to me he'd like all single mothers mired in poverty, all women in lesser jobs or no jobs and makes it impossible for women to earn a living plus raise their family.

I hope women come out in droves and just start calling it on this absolute lying smear campaign!

I will only be there in spirit. (Kathy Gerber - 10/27/2006 8:47:12 PM)

And so will many other women, Ingrid.

George Allen's alma mater is blanketed with posters like this >>-->>

Do it.

The fact that our first elected Congresswoman from VA (demnan - 10/28/2006 6:32:41 AM)
Leslie Byrne, is working so hard for Webb is enough for me.  Hey, Webb campaign, bring Leslie out and have her do an ad, there are a lot of people who still remember 1992.

Allen and Women's Issues (Barbara - 10/28/2006 9:55:35 PM)
I wish I could make it on Monday.  I was at the rally in Annandale today--proudly holding up my homemde Women For Webb sign.  It was great.

I can't stand this anymore.  We know all too well how George Allen has voted against everything important to women in this state.  And yet he is allowed to claim that he is a strong supporter of women?  Why isn't he challenged on this?  The only thing I can find about his support for women is his defense for his wife's appointment to Dominion Power.  Maybe it is meant to show his support for opportunities for women with no expertise or backgroud in a field that will nonetheless pay them more the minimum wage--55,000 + $2,000 per meeting attended. How do we get that message out there?

He is a man devoid of character and integrity, and I can't wait until Nov 8.

Well one reason is this. (Kathy Gerber - 10/29/2006 1:03:32 AM)
There aren't that many women in decision making positions right now. Women leaders in government and the media are invariably subjected to particularly vicious personal attacks.  Look at Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and Leslie Byrne.

It's pretty clear than women have less of a voice in the public sphere than we did in the recent past.  It's a damn shame.

A conversation with one of my female (Catzmaw - 10/29/2006 2:39:41 AM)
relatives tells me we still aren't over the hump on the slander slash and burn Allen did on Webb.  My relative told me she couldn't vote for Webb because he's against women. I straightened her out pretty quickly, but was shocked that she was still buying into the smear campaign.  It's like a damn rash.  We really need a strong counter to it.  Saturate the airwaves with direct assaults on the attack ads.
