Overall Good, but I think they should have added that Webb was once the Navy Secretary.
To me, talking to Republicans, Webb is clearly the stronger candidate on foreign affairs, military and security issues than Allen.
So, amplifying this to me is important, especially to sway Republican voters who are poed at the neocons but can't get themselves to vote Dem.
Secretary of the Navy (Doug Garnett-Deakin - 10/24/2006 2:57:13 PM)
A nitpick, but an important semantic difference.
I agree (thegools - 10/24/2006 4:57:31 PM)
New Ad (Silver Fox - 10/24/2006 2:53:32 PM)
I'm glad to see ads on this subject rolling out. We need to make the point strongly that Bush's "Stay The Course" means staying a course that will take the country right over the edge of a cliff, economically, militarily and politically. George Allen is going to do his best to distance himself from Bush and Bush's failed policy but we have to keep pounding the point home that the two Georges have walked in lock-step all the way down to the crumbling edge of the cliff and momentum will take them over. We can't let them take the rest of the country over with them.
Bush and Rove are going to try the old word shell game once again, saying No, No, I really didn't say what you thought you heard me say: Weapons of Mass Destruction, Mission Accomplished and now...Stay The Course. Let's run those sound bites again and again and again, in living color and at full volume. The American public tends to have short-term memory syndrome. We have to keep reminding them so they don't forget exactly who got us in this mess and certainly can't be trusted to chart a true course that will get us out of it!
I like the ad (Eric - 10/24/2006 3:42:04 PM)
and a great follow up (to air a few minutes later) would be to show Allen and Bush and their absurd claims that they never really said "stay the course".
That contrast, showing Allen as a blind war supporter first, then scrambling to cover his political ass and keep his job, would result in a very strong message.
To coin a word: DITTO! (Catzmaw - 10/24/2006 5:27:42 PM)
Back atcha Rush.
This is a good ad (charcoal - 10/24/2006 3:52:58 PM)
It is plain and simple -- it has one message. And, it illustrates it effectively.
I agree that there are many other nuances to mention, tangents to pursue... but not in a 30-second ad. When you are done watching this ad, you get it.
