Positive (VA Breeze - 10/24/2006 1:32:07 PM)
Nice ad-like the positive tone and the "move forward" emphasis.

Go jim go!!! (drmontoya - 10/24/2006 1:43:25 PM)
Senator Jim Webb, (D-VA)

Let's get out on the ground, army begin our attack!!!!!

We have an election to win!

Webb Camp should . . . (Bobby - 10/24/2006 1:54:42 PM)
drop all other adds and run this as much as possible for the next two weeks.  I'd also like to see similar adds w/ Tim Kaine and more targeted spots w/ Bobby Scott, Leslie Bryne, and Doug Wilder(if he endorses). 33% of the public have a neutral opinion of Jim Webb (according to the Mason Dixon poll) if less than half of those people move to a favorable opinion of Webb he will have a favorable rating of equal to or over 50%.

very good (TurnVirginiaBlue - 10/24/2006 2:32:52 PM)
It's positive and it shows to me overall why Webb is the better candidate period.

Very good.

(although I like the more funny, negative ads as a consumer what can I say!)

Now that's what I'm talking about! (DanG - 10/24/2006 3:09:32 PM)
I'd like to see one with Tim Kaine in there as well!

Finally the wait is over. (thegools - 10/24/2006 4:56:00 PM)
I agree this add should pre-empt all others.  Run it until everyone has seen it a dozen times.

I agree adds with Kaine, Boucher and others cwould also be useful.

Webb needs his good story out there ...many don't know him yet.

How bout this for October Surprises (Jon-Phillip - 10/24/2006 6:12:32 PM)

Which one are you referring to? (thegools - 10/24/2006 6:15:42 PM)

This one (Jon-Phillip - 10/24/2006 7:34:44 PM)
"A-68-05 Mark Lewis, et al. v. Gwendolyn L. Harris et al.
(Mercer County & Statewide)
Argued 2/15/06

Does the New Jersey Constitution require the State to allow same-sex couples to marry?"

This could totally suck . . . I mean if you are worried that the evangelical base is going to be roused, that is . . . or you happen to be running a campaign in a state where there is a constitution amendment related to these issues and you are against it.

Lets hope it doesn't break the way it might break, if you know what I mean?

The NJ decision (libra - 10/25/2006 11:18:27 PM)
Jon-Philip:
Does the New Jersey Constitution require the State to allow same-sex couples to marry?"

This could totally suck . . .

The NJ Constitution has not yet invaded the bedrooms of the consenting adults, so far as I'm aware (and, if we hold strong, neither will VA), so, there's no issue of *having to allow* (a la Mass). And the verdict itself, which *did* have a great potential to "suck", has come smack-dab in the middle, thus depriving the wingnuts of most of their oxygen (though not Brownback. OTOH... Brownback... ), without letting gays claim total victory (and, possibly, inflame the wing-nuts just in time for elections). I'd give the judge a *high* five :)

What the verdict says, in short, is that according to the NJ Constitution, you cannot, legally, discriminate against anyone; a same-sex couple has as much right to be protected (ehalth insurance, inheritance, etc) as any other couple. As to whether it's "marriage" or not, the court re-directed it back to the legislature, to dabble with terminology -- marriage, civil union, what-have-you. The court refused to serve as a dictionary, but it interpreted (laid down? ) the law as far as basic human rights are concerned.

As a "straight" who's always thought that the gays were trying to push things too far too fast, I applaud the NJ's court's canny decision...

An informal survey of hundreds of people (mkfox - 10/24/2006 7:23:27 PM)
done by the local media in Bristol, Va., indicates that the war and terrorism are their top priorities at the polls. They've said that while they supported Bush and the war in the past, they are very upset with where the war has gone and that it is increasing the number of terrorists and hurting national security. Good news for Jim "former Navy Secretary" Webb; bad news for George "stay the course" Allen!
