This one's a really nice endorsement...
VA PBA represents over 2,000 law enforcement and corrections officers

The Virginia state chapter of the Police Benevolent Association (PBA), an organization representing over 2,000 active and retired law enforcement officers and corrections officers, today endorsed Jim Webb for United States Senate.

GÇ£As a former Marine, Jim Webb knows what itGÇÖs like to put your life on the line every day in service of your country. And as a former public employee, Jim Webb believes in protecting the retirement benefits of those who have given a lifetime of service to their country,GÇ¥ said Jason Knorowski, President of the Southeast Virginia chapter of the PBA. GÇ£WeGÇÖre confident that Jim Webb will be a strong voice to protect law enforcement officers from attacks on our pensions and basic working conditions.GÇ¥

The Virginia PBA provides legal defense coverage and a strong political voice for police officers, deputy sheriffs and correctional officers in Virginia.

GÇ£I am honored to receive this endorsement from the Police Benevolent Association,GÇ¥ said Jim Webb. GÇ£ItGÇÖs a travesty that those who have the hardest and most important jobs to do must endure efforts to chip away at their retirement security. I believe the men and women who put on the uniform each day must be held in the highest esteem, and given the tools they need to do their jobs."

Excellent!! (summercat - 10/19/2006 6:20:02 PM)
Now if that VFA group had just gotten the right info about Allen's non-support of vets...
But this is a great plus for the campaign.  I liked the fire fighters' endorsement also, since they usually go Republican,I think.

Oy! (libra - 10/19/2006 11:24:44 PM)
I guess I'll have to contribute to them now... :)

I have this, iron-clad, "rule"; I support various law-and-order/veteran organizations *only* if at least one of the conditions is met:
1) The organization has endorsed a Dem President at national level or a Dem Senator at state level (bloody unlikely)
2)The Dems are in power, nationally, in at least one of the 3: Prex, House, Senate.

Dems tend to spend their money "otherwise", so I have a bit of sympathy for the "machos" when Dems are in power; much as I may dislike the whole idea personally (having grown up in an authoritarian environment), it'an unfortunate fact that we *do need* such services, no matter who rules.

At the same time, I firmly believe in taking responsibility for one's actions... If an organization endorses a Chimpanzee (or a macaca), then *it* will have to live with its fund cuts; I feel no responsibility at all. Tough titty, dahlinks.

I've saved/redirected *oodles* of lovely lolly in the past 6yrs and had loads of fun explaining *just why* I was changing my giving patterns. One might say I've rediscovered my "inner bitch" :)
