More Evidence that Dick Wadhams is a Complete Idiot

I couldn't make this up if I tried, people.

Dick Wadhams has proved to me that he may just be the dumbest guy in Virginia Politics.  That's right, dumber than George Allen.

I've already voiced how Wadhams' notoriously dirty standards have bothered me, an even called on him to apologize.  Obviously, he didn't quite listen.  Instead, he decided to attack bloggers again.  But hey, at least this time he didn't insinuate that I hated Jews.

The League of Women Voters has asked that George Allen remove an ad that violates a contract that he signed saying he wouldn't air footage from the debate in an ad.  George Allen's campaign responded with a resounding "no".  Try that "but Nancy said" crap on us now, George, you flaming hypocrite.

But Wadhams logic for refusing to take down the ad is what cracks me up.  From the AP Story...

"Allen campaign spokesman Dick Wadhams said the ad wouldn't be pulled. He said the Webb campaign broke the agreement first because the liberal Raising Kaine blog, which receives funding from the Webb campaign, provided links to debate footage."

First of all, has the Allen Campaign really sunk to the point that it's comparing itself to an activist-run blog?  Seriously, that's pathetic dude.  And yet, somehow I get the idea that if you gave Lowell, Josh, and the rest of us a candidate with a 16-point lead, we could keep the race from falling into the "Toss-up" category in only two months, so there you go.  But that's beside the point.
Here's my biggest problem with Wadhams comment.  Raising Kaine itself does not recieve funding from the Webb Campaign.  How many times do we have to say this?  Lowell and Josh work for Webb, and they recieve payment.  I don't.  Neither does Rob.  Or the other Dan.  Jaime doesn't.  Neither does Teddy.  As a matter of fact, a vast majority of the people who organize this site have never seen a dime from Jim Webb.  Oh, we've GIVEN dimes to Webb.  Many of them.  But we've never received any money for our work.

Dick Wadhams apparently thinks Jim Webb is paying me for my support.  Trust me, I wish he were.  I have two more years of Tech, and then Law School after that.  I could use the cash.  Unfortunately, I give up my spare time and help Webb for free.  Wadhams continuously tries to manipulate the media by lying about the Democratic Blogs.  He's just pissed that we do our work so much better than he does his.  So, Mr. Wadhams, why don't you stop manipulating the truth for your own benefit, hmm?  Because you're really starting to make me ill.  Seriously, every time I see a picture of you I start to feel a little queezy.

Now, this could hurt Allen in other ways.  What's the one demographic that Webb is faltering in that, if reversed, would send him into the lead of this race?  Women, that's right children.  So, do you think Headlines such as "League of Women Voters wants Allen ad pulled; Allen says no" will help Allen in his attempt to keep the woman vote?  No, I didn't think so either.

Finally, as Vivian points out on her post, Raising Kaine has removed it's links to the debate.  We were told we shouldn't link, and we did what we were asked.  George Allen and his campaign, however, did not remove the ad when asked.  Well, there goes Dick Wadhams' escape goat, huh?  After all, we removed the debate clip when asked to.  Shouldn't Wadhams as well?  Apparently, we look like the classy ones here.  We made a mistake, and we remove the clip.  George and Dick make a mistake, and they refuse to pull their ad.  How can Wadhams' and Allen's actions even compare to ours when the outcomes are completely different?  We have no link to the debate on our small blog, they still have debate footage being showered all over the airwaves!

Basically, Dick Wadhams is a complete moron.  do you remember when we considered this guy Rove 2.0?  That's an insult to Karl Rove!  Dick Wadhams pushes Raising Kaine, Ben over at NLS, and the bloggers at Daily Kos and thinks it's all good because we won't push back.

Wrong.

Mr. Wadhams is just like his boss, George Allen.  Nothing but a Kindergarten bully, and these accusations he's made reveal him to be nothing but that.  He picks on the blogs because he thinks we're easy targets, and that we won't respond.  Well, here's a response for you, Mr. Wadhams:

Once we're done kicking George Allen out of Washington, the next thing we're doing is kicking you out of Virginia.

Well put Dan (PM - 10/18/2006 7:35:23 AM)
I wrote some time ago that my salary per hour was negative since I received nothing from the campaign and contributed some money.

The idea of doing something you regard as for the public good, without monetary compensation, is foreign to Wadhams and LaCivita.

It's foreign to right-wing Republicans in general (Lowell - 10/18/2006 7:39:53 AM)
They think everything is about greed, self-interest and cynicism, not about hope, selflessness and idealism.  They think it's "every man for himself" in this world, not that we're all in it together.  They think that the ultra-rich deserve what they get, as do the ultra-poor.  They think that they've got theirs, so screw everyone else.  And they think it's all about representing their big donors, not about serving THE PEOPLE of AMERICA.

They are wrong, and they are unbecoming of America's greatest ideals.

Dick Wadhams fears the Bubby (Bubby - 10/18/2006 9:09:04 AM)
Wadhams continues to refuse my offer of a wrestling match for charity. He can repay his debt with the LWV.

All he has to do is name the venue, and show up for 3  , two-minute periods. NCAA rules. We will sell tickets and give the proceeds to the League of Women Voters. You can pay off your debt of shame - Dick!

Dick Wadhams! When will you step up to the challenge?  Bring a legal release, a quart of Bactine disinfectant, and a couple of rolls of gauze - we're going to demonstrate the Navy Ride.

Dick, we need to talk. (Bubby - 10/18/2006 3:00:07 PM)
Dear Dick: I didn't mean THAT Navy Ride.

L.A. Times-Pink Purge in the GOP

Thank you Dick and George (Shenandoah Democrat - 10/18/2006 9:13:38 AM)
Warmest heartfelt appreciation to Dick Wadhams and George Allen for continuing to offend reasonable and moderate Virginians with their extreme and weird behaviors. You don't have to be a Democrat to realize these guys are really weird! Their consistent lies, distortions and malevolent rudeness only help to stimulate greater support for CHANGE! And all this negativity from a campaign that was supposed to focus on the issues. By being so negative, the Allen camp demonstrates its mean-spirited extreme character. All the more to motivate Democrats state-wide to do all we can to elect Jim Webb!!

Embarrassing! (KathyinBlacksburg - 10/18/2006 10:10:43 AM)
These guys are an embarrassment.

Is there any "honor" in George Allen? (Tink - 10/18/2006 12:12:16 PM)
From what I understand, the League of Women Voters is not dropping this.  More to come...

They're on a roll! (Rebecca - 10/18/2006 12:28:24 PM)
The Allen campaign is on a roll! They just keep on doing stupid things! I think it may be because they are desperate. Desperate people can really do themselves in if they don't do well under pressure. I think Allen has had a free ride for so long that his people just don't know what to do in this situation. They are acting like they are unnerved by the whole experience.

The "ELITE" Republican... (mosquitopest - 10/18/2006 12:33:41 PM)
Allen and Wadhams are just demonstrating that "Elite" Republican behavior typical of these neo cons.  My Dad was a traditional Republican and he would be working hard to kick these corrupt bozos OUT of his Grand Old Party....Heck it's not even a Grand Old Party anymore...They turned it into the Grand Oil Party.

They are too good to have to be accountablie or accept any responsibility....Unlike the rest of us peasants the ELITES don't have to abide by silly things like legal contracts, laws, or rules.

Didn't you notice Allen flagrantly violated the rule that the candidate was to "stop" talking when the buzzer went off?  Allen disregarded this completely and when verbally reprimanded his excuse was...but that was an important issue.

yeah...like Allen has the I.Q. to solve any important issue.

The people are SICK of the Elites and their constant excuses, finger pointing, and negative advertising.  Children in kindergarten are taught better than this.

That's why PEOPLE (no matter what their political persuasion) are saying ENOUGH to these neocon ELITISTS.

Buzz....Buzz....Mosquito

Ignoring the "funding" aspect, (Eric - 10/18/2006 12:35:20 PM)
the comparison to RK is good for a laugh or three.  The Allen campaign is directly comparable to a grassroots blog?  RK is in the same league as a [supposedly] professional campaign with tens of millions of dollars?

Wow - that is awesome!!!!!  Fantastic work by everyone on RK.  Now if we could just get some of those millions of dollars...

Think of RK and think of internet reform (Rebecca - 10/18/2006 1:26:28 PM)
Stay aware that the Repubs want to "regulate" the internet. They know that sites like RK are a threat to their machine and they want to eliminate them. If you care about Progressive politics, the netroots, and democracy please keep on top of this issue.

Breach of the League of Women Voters agreement (Quizzical - 10/18/2006 1:33:43 PM)
So the Allen campaign acknowledges that they have willfully breached the agreement about use of the video from the debate.

Was that an agreement between the Allen and Webb campaigns, or was it a three way agreement between the campaigns and the League of Women voters, or two separate agreements between each campaign and the League?  Is the agreement online somewhere to look at?

Since the debate was televised and carried on Cspan, among other places, it is hard to believe that anyone could have reasonably understood that all or part of the video would not end up on Youtube and be linked to from various political blogs.  That kind of use is in a different league that televised campaign ads broadcast in Virginia.

What really matters here, to me, is that (Matt in VA - 10/18/2006 8:03:28 PM)
blogs are providing wadhams with an excuse to break his pledge. the media are unlikely to care enough to look into the validity of his excuse, and the voters less so.

I logged on to some of the (Catzmaw - 10/18/2006 9:11:56 PM)
TV News media websites that featured the story today and sent them e-mails explaining the circumstances and asking them to note that RK is not funded by the Webb campaign and that upon discovery of the unintentional technical violation of the rules they immediately took down the links to the debate.  I'm not about to concede a flat lie to Dick Wadhams.  We should refute this with each and every media outlet.  Combine Wadhams's falsehood with his obstinate refusal to follow the agreement and you've got another Allen campaign blunder.  Which, when you think about it, why isn't Allen noticing this blunder and telling his guy to back off?

Great work. (Lowell - 10/18/2006 9:22:16 PM)
Keep it up, and don't let them get away with their lies and slanders.  Thanks.

No, he's the Republican idea of a shrewd political operative (bamboo - 10/19/2006 12:01:23 AM)
Don't underestimate Wadhams. He's no moron and he's not playing this game out of a decent respect for the public or civility or ethics. He's lives in Rove's world of win at any cost. So don't think that calling him names is going to make any difference. But it's important to expose his tactics and lack of concern for fairness and honesty. Virginians need to wake up and see that any candidate who hires such operatives doesn't deserve our trust, and that includes Allen.
