Team Allen loves to try painting Webb as a scary liberal because of the mere fact that he associates with other people in his party.

Well, let's turn this thing around.  Allen suffers far greater from much more direct associations.  So, the series continues:

The Real A-Team!

Every few days, we'll toss out someone that is near and dear to George Allen's heart.  Feel free to nominate your next A-Teamer in the comments.

Batting behind the the unpopular Dick Cheney and the scandalous Ollie North, we get another nominee from the comments. This guy is either a prophet or a complete loon - calling for the assassination of world leaders on national TV and blaming 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina on the pro choice movement. 

No worries for George Allen - he'll gladly take this self-proclaimed prophet's campaign dollars.  Allen will even defend Mr. Soothsayer for claiming that federal judges are a bigger threat than terrorists and then speak at his university's graduation!

is that Bush-Allen kept coddling all three of these crazies (Cheney, North, Robertson) until their extremism has become acceptable, "the norm," and old-time sensible, adult moderation becomes regarded as suspect.

The whole political dialogue, indeed, the whole political spectrum has been pulled off track so far to the right that what was once rearded as the honorable middle is now denigrated as being liberal-leftist-hate-America.  That is why true Republican moderates of the old school no longer belong in this neo-republican, fake-Republican party--- they should all leave (as I did) and come home to the Democrats, who genuinely have a big enough tent to accommodate them and welcome them.
