Vote for George Allen, He's "Tall" and "Shiny!" Huh?!?

This must be a parody.  Someone, please tell me this is a parody, and that George Allen supporters aren't this dumb and/or crazy.  Thank you.

Dear Editor, Rockbridge Weekly:

There are times that trouble us. There are times that make us afraid. There are times we find hopeless and we are plain old scared. In times such as these, someone is willing to stand tall, willing to make decisions and choices.

George Allen stands tall. Having been our Governor and made things better, he went on to serve in the Senate. He was not afraid of foreign enemies or homegrown ones, nor has he forgotten that his first duty is to the people of Virginia, the people who elected him. He has not forgotten the meaning of the word loyalty, and stands strong behind our President, for whom else will defend us against Jihad Arabs and North Koreans.

Throwing muddy words and muddy accusations at a knight in shining armor is foolish. George Allen, the knight, stands tall and very shiny in the light of TRUTH.

Pam Pfister

Lexington

That's right, George Allen stands "tall and very shiny."  Hey, now, if THAT is not a reason to vote for him, I don't know what is!!  LOL.

P.S.  Could this be Stephen Colbert or Jon Stewart writing hilarious parody under a pseudonym?  Monty Python, perhaps?  Run away!!!! :)

Hotline: Allen Struggling to Get Letters to the Editor (bb10 - 10/12/2006 8:00:57 AM)
According to "Hotline on Call" of the "National Journal," the Allen campaign is looking for good letters to the editor (reading this letter, I'll second that conclusion).

Here's part of the message that the Allen campaign has sent out

The George Allen for U.S. Senate Campaign is in desperate need of "Letters to the Editor" to combat the aggressive grassroots campaign of his opponent in the closing days of this election. I have agreed to turn over 50 unsigned letters to the editor that can be used by the campaign to strategically place in various local, regional and statewide papers in the next 5 days. The campaign will find people to sign your letter. You just have to write it.

I hope the Allen campaign will contact and recruit Pam Pfister for this effort. We need more "inspiring" letters like hers to "convince" people to vote for George Allen.

you would almost think right wingers are blindly loyal and ill-informed lemmings, incapable of independent thought, being led over a cliff by the bushtanistas and allenettes.

Daddy, please write my letter for me.....pathetic.

The Allen LTEs will need changing (PM - 10/12/2006 8:56:54 AM)
Yesterday at his press conference the Blunderer in Chief said:

"My attitude is, don't do what you're doing if it's not working; change."

So, we're changing...to something...can't tell you what until Jim Baker writes up that report (Bush said that, too)

He should have listened to his dad's adviser in the first place.

To entertain you, here's a link to David Bowie singing "Changes"

that is against the rules!!!!  every LTE says they will not publish letters that are anonymous anyways -- so their solution is to have anonymous people write letters and then pay a lackey to attach their names to it?

they literally will stop at nothing to deceive, lie, and force their way to power!

Let's Play "Spot the Phony Letters" (bb10 - 10/12/2006 11:49:46 AM)
That's my proposal for a contest for the coming weeks: Let's see if we can identify the "canned" Allen letters, and then point them out and embarrass the phonies.

With a little help from Google News Advanced Search,  this should be pretty easy to do:
1) Do a daily search in Virginia newspapers for any items (including letters to the editor (LTEs)) mentioning "George Allen."
2) Save the pro-Allen LTEs, then watch for additional ones in later days, and compare them.
3) When we find the boiler-plate letters, check to see what "different" persons put their names on the same letter.
4) Send an original LTE (we Dems can write our own) to each of the unknowing newspapers that were duped by the Allen supporters.
5) Continue as long as needed.

If we start the contest, the newspaper editors will likely join in, to avoid being "used" by the Allen campaign.

Oh, really? (Teddy - 10/12/2006 1:33:30 PM)
A deviant practice hidden in the name? And just how would you know that, you deviant leftie porn artist, you

More on This in a DKos Diary (bb10 - 10/12/2006 4:14:25 PM)
I put together my two comments from this thread, along with some additional thoughts, and did a longer diary on this Allen campaign dirty trick on Daily Kos, Stop George Allen's Boilerplate Letters to the Editor.

If you want to, please go and add more comments on that diary, so more people see strategies we can use to block this maneuver by Allen.

This letter (Arturo - 10/12/2006 8:03:09 AM)
should be sent to Stewart and Colbert.  Could be fun for Colbert's "The Word".

Ha ha that's a good idea I'll send it to Wonkette (PM - 10/12/2006 8:12:53 AM)
Also, some might say that there is a big pun on a certain deviant practice lurking in the letter.  Hint: name

I'm with Pam (Kathy Gerber - 10/12/2006 9:52:45 AM)

What's wrong with all of you faceless bloggers?  Don't you know anything??
Get your priorities straight and stick to the issues.

Tall and shiny is in this year.

Is that what Pam meant? (PM - 10/12/2006 9:57:48 AM)

I wrote this on NLS... (Tom Joad (Kevin) - 10/12/2006 12:26:01 PM)
"There are times when I read blogs. There are times when I find insightful posts. There are times when I read stupid posts and do not know what to do. In times such as these, someone is willing to stand up, take their keyboard and bash it against their forehead until it's a bloody pulp"

I saw that (phriendlyjaime - 10/12/2006 3:40:21 PM)
and I totally cracked up.

RE: LTE (JPTERP - 10/12/2006 1:45:29 PM)
Editor's note: "Knight in shining armor" should read "Knight in freshly bleached white sheets with hood".

If George Allen is the type of leader that most people feel obliged to look toward in troubled times, then we are truly doomed.  How do you think we got to this point in the first place?

Parody? Sadly, no. (Nell - 10/12/2006 4:48:30 PM)
But at least you can tell Ms. Pfister's letter isn't one of those LTE's-for-hire! ;>

Shiny? (libra - 10/12/2006 7:07:44 PM)
Apologies if this is too crude for the present company but...

The Polish laguage, which is fond of elaborate descriptions has one for "shiny", which came to mind immediately:

"Shiny, like dog's balls in springtime"

Here's hoping that, come November 8, Allen's wounds will be easier to lick than that.

Combat boots over cowboy boots in November!
