Republican Puts the Foley Sex Scandal into Perspective

Rep. Christopher Shays (R-CT) says that the Mark Foley sex scandal and Republican was not that big a deal, because at least "Dennis Hastert didn't kill anybody."
Ahhh...now THAT clear is all up. Unless someone dies, it's not important. So what if a member of that fine, self-proclaimed "Family Values" party spends his time exchanging sexually explicit e-mails with underage male pages? So what if there's a 6-year (or more) period of inaction by Republican leaders in the House, despite their knowledge of this activity? Hell, at least noboy DIED! I mean, this could be IRAQ or something, right? Uhhhh...maybe that's a bad example for Republicans to use. Oh well, you get the point. Don't you?

And I thought the Junior Senator from Virginia was a dumbass. Looks like dumb extends to the the Nutmeg State (Sorry Lowell, had to say it). Is there a Fountain of Stupid in the Republican Caucus room?
Foley's behavior (libra - 10/12/2006 7:16:27 PM)
might not have been that much of a deal if, 7 yrs ago, when they first learnt about it, G(l)OP had quietly pressed him to fade out from the political scene. But, no; quite the opposite happened. Reynolds and Rove -- both -- twisted Foley's arm when he (Foley) exhibited some common sense and announced he wasn't gonna run this time around.
Serves them (and Hastert too) bloody right.
