interview subject asserts that Virginia's legislature passed a law legalizing gay marriage, then tries to pass it off as if he misspoke himself - or does he?
interviewees repeatedly assert this is not a political issue, then try to explain away New England's stance on the issue by saying, "Look who they send to the Senate...look who they vote for for president."
interviewee from Harrisonburg's "Valley Family Forum" flat out says his organizations purpose is to get pastors to stand in the pulpit and tell their congregations how to vote
as interviewee from va4marriage.org asserts that this is legal - or is that what he says? He can't quite seem to get the words out.
as interviewer expresses support for the ballot initiative and thereby brands the radio stations as supporting it, concluding the show by prompting the interviewees, "Tell 'em how to vote."
I was, as you may well imagine, furious.
But I'm somewhat less angry now..........
Commonwealth Coalition was offered rebuttal time by our public affairs director. They sent us a heavy hitter:
Dave "Mudcat" Saunders.
The show will be recorded this Thursday morning by telephone, and will air one week from this Sunday at 7:30 AM on WBOP "Magic 95.5" and Real Country 96.9 WSIG in the Harrisonburg/Staunton area.
I will be handling the technical end of the production for interviewer Cliff Davis. I have also been asked to develop questions for Mudcat on the marriage amendment or anything else you might wish to ask.
Magic 95.5's webstream can be heard here.
This link is also in my Daily Kos signature line.
Any comments, questions, or suggestions that you may have would be greatly appreciated!!!!!
Good question.
From my personal experience of 5 years ago, when a GOP operative befriended me at work (he was doing purely pol work at the agency I was at) he said the same thing. Basically, he said the White House types laughed at the religious right behind their backs.
