Marriage and Taxes

George Allen recently came forth spewing another negative ad about taxes. Oh yes, if you are a rich married Republican, what a sin it is for you to pay taxes! Child tax credits, two income families, maybe some rich relatives to leave you money. By God! George Allen will prevent those sneaky Democrats from trying to tax you so that single income, non-inheriting families and single people might get by. I mean, you might have to forgo buying that new Hummer or boat you always wanted. Good old George will see you through! You need to build that grand new deck on the McMansion!
In the mean time, how does a single person survive in this economy? The mortgage is so high that the small condos are selling out around me to families that are packing in four or more people in units less than 1,000 sq feet. And the my wage went down 20k last year. So I don't give a fricking damn about your rich man's taxes. Of course Republicans have never cared about single people, wer'e the forgotten people. They just consider a single person a social problem. So George, just hope the suckers in your court don't have single young adult children trying to buy or rent a home out there.

allens tax ad.. (drmontoya - 10/9/2006 6:40:47 PM)
it distorts the
truth.
Jim Webb doesn't want to raise taxes on the middle class.
That's exactly who he wants to bring relief to.
Keep middle class taxes, repeal taxes on the rich.
What's that? Like 2 or 3 percent.
Sorry, I have no compassion for corporations.
Especially those same corporations that ship our jobs overseas.
This is OUR country. They don't want us to fight for it, they want to discourage us.
No more.
I think you meant to say something different. (KathyinBlacksburg - 10/10/2006 7:24:49 PM)
I think you might have been watching "opposite George" on Seinfeld when you typed the above comment. It came out saying the opposite of what I think you meant. (Seriously, it can happen to any of us.) But, you said, "keep middle class taxes." I think you meant keep middle class tax cuts." And I don't think you meant "repeal taxes on the rich," but rather repeal tax cuts for the rich."
Note: Webb does want to get rid of incentives for corporations to offshore US jobs. I think that's a tax most Americans will agree with. I wish he'd emphasize it.
