We had over 200 people attend the Peninsula JJ last night. I'm sure pictures will be coming in as soon as everyone wakes up and gets busy again. We have pictures of Bobby Scott and Jim Webb together, and Kellam, Scott, Webb, and O'Donnell together. Bobby Scott actually introduced Webb and that was a very good thing. The Daily Press was there and did an article in the paper this morning. It is in the local section. The Webb signs out in the lobby disappeared very very fast. I would say over 100. It was a magnificent event with great participation from all the players on the Peninsula side of the water. If these pictures could somehow get posted with Bobby and Webb and put on literature it would minimize the damage done by the endorsement of Allen by Mayor (on [his] way out) Holley.
By the way, if you hadn't heard, Rep. Bobby Scott formally endorsed Jim Webb late last week. The Democratic Party is coming together and will be out in force on November 7!
Pictures of the dancing afterwards........
Speakers last night were:
Commissioner of the Revenue in Hampton Ross Mugler (subbing for Treasurer Molly Ward)
Larry Roberts for Tim Kaine
Newport News Mayor Joe Frank
Delegate Brian Moran
Senator Creigh Deeds
Senator Mamie Locke
VA1 Candidate Shawn O'Donnell
VA2 Candidate Phil Kellam
Congressman Bobby Scott
Our next great Senator Statesman Jim Webb
All this culminated with presenting Democrat of the Year Awards to Delegates Jeion Ward and Mamye BaCote and Volunteer of the Year Daley Storey.
It was a great eventing. BRING ON THE PICTURES!
That wonderful woman with Bobby and Jim is our "Bobby Scott Volunteer of the Year", Ms Darley Storey of Newport News.
We are lucky as chairs to have him leading our organization..
Also, Lowell: 780kb is huge for a photo file online. I have broadband and it is choking to death here. Please reduce the size of the files you have stored and that way all of us can look at them sometime soon.
This is cause for alarm.
Even more than the black politicians and their political organizations, black ministers have a strong influence over how (and if) their parishoners vote.
Anecdotally, I am hearing that some $$ are being thrown around to "buy" endorsements. I don't know the answer, but how much "faith based" money have these ministers received????
