This was a warm, supportive room that was happy to see the candidate. Sparkling Judy Feder, the congressional candidate in VirginiaGÇÖs 10th District, was a hit too -- she works the room with practiced grace and gives great firebrand speech.
10:00, Leisure World -- This event was a more serious affair -- those seniors are a tough, tough crowd. They chatter and chow down, but they sure as heck don't cheer -- a candidate should count himself to get a round of applause at the end. JW did -- but I'll bet there are a few who haven't!
George Allen's video tracker didn't get up early enough to make the first event, but he was there for this one. When JW walked in and saw him, he came over and greeted him warmly and gave him a good-natured pat on the back -- what a difference, no?
Speaking to another group of about 100, JW delivered the most detailed version of his stump speech I've heard yet. (He could tell that these seniors meant business, so he got down to it.) He didn't pander to the medicare crowd, promising to save their social security -- his statements about fairness and social justice establish his creds in this area. But he did address their concerns about medical care, endorsing Russ Feingold's recent proposal to establish experimental programs at the state level to figure out the most efficient and effective means of health care delivery.
He also did his best to innoculate the crowd against the barrage of negative ads that the Allen campaign will continue to fire. Just think of it as toxic air pollution and put on your mental hazmat protective gear.
Some good questions -- some great answers...a crew from CBS network news caught it all.

Packed house and very high energy (and free beer and food courtesy of Loudoun County Democratic Committee Chair Thom Beres).
I will diary the event later when I get the pics from Bob (his skill and equipment make my pictures look as if they were taken through a waterfall).
I noticed there were several supporters at the event from outside Loudoun County. Several drove many miles to meet Jim Webb for the first time. There were also Republicans in the crowd, all of whom plan to support and vote for Webb.
We had a gathering of women at the event's end. It included a ton of women who gathered around Webb to show that Virginia women support him and will cast their vote
for Webb on November 7th. How could you not? He's the
REAL DEAL!!!
