According to a new book by Bob Woodward, former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card "on two occasions tried and failed to persuade President Bush to fire Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld." In March 2006, Card left the Administration, "...convinced that Iraq would be compared to Vietnam and that history would record that no senior administration officials had raised their voices in opposition to the conduct of the war."
Wham. By the way, the new book is called "State of Denial," which seems extremely appropriate for George Bush and George Allen, not to mention all their neocon/far-right-wing friends and enablers. Throw 'em all out!

Just curious... (vote-left - 9/29/2006 5:09:09 PM)
...Is Denial a state or a river? [/sarcasm]
A State (Teddy - 9/29/2006 6:38:36 PM)
The River is Lethe,
the River of Forgetfulness or Forgotten; drinking its waters wipes your memories. As it happens, it is located in Hades. Seems to me we could locate it easily in the Rose Garden instead.
