Kerry: Allen fumbling through campaign just by "being himself"

I received an e-mail from John Kerry yesterday soliciting for 4 candidates, including Jim Webb (thank you!).  I didn't look closely through the e-mail until today, and found this gem.

In Virginia, Jim Webb, who served as a Marine in Vietnam and as Secretary of the Navy, has the political momentum against Republican incumbent George Allen, who has fumbled his way through this election season by just being himself. With your help now, we can make sure that one of the "rising stars" of the Republican right doesn't make it back to the Senate.

I found that just hilarious, because unfortunately for John Kerry, he actually has to WORK with George Allen, as they serve on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee together.  On occasion, I have tuned into that committee, especially the John Bolton hearings.  As many as you recall, there was no bigger champion of John Bolton than Sen. Allen -- I guess bullies like to stick together.  It was also no secret that there was no love lost between Bolton and Kerry, and I heard on more than one occasion a brash and rude Sen. Allen referring to the Senator of Massachusetts, shall we say, NOT in the comity of the Senate.  Luckily Mr. Bolton will not be returning to the U.N. as ambassador, because he can't get the votes by his OWN PARTY.  Yet Sen. Allen defended him to the last.

I'm beginning to think that in addition to wanting the Senate to turn over to the Democrats, I get that feeling that Sen. Kerry wants that ass off the committee!  Here was another smackdown of Allen after the unfortunate M-word incident:

GÇ£It was so disappointing to hear one of my colleagues make comments that have no place in Virginia, no place in our country, and certainly no place in the United States Senate. George Allen singled out a lone Indian-American college student for ridicule in front of a crowd of mostly white voters. After using a word I wonGÇÖt repeat, he added insult to injury when he said: GÇ£Welcome to America.GÇ¥

Well, to Senator Allen I think itGÇÖs time we said GÇÿwelcome to the twenty first centuryGÇÖ where slurs and slights arenGÇÖt a laughing matter. Welcome to a new day where we refuse to accept insults made about Indian-Americans that, if we heard them about African Americans or Jews or Hispanics, would be the end of a political career.

There is a tone to the above statements by Sen. Kerry, and it is contempt and disgust.  So in addition to serving the people of Virginia with honesty, integrity, and a real grappling of the issues, for the sake of our poor senators in Washington, let's get Jim Webb elected, to improve their working conditions!
