Allen's energy plan was already "languishing" in Senate, introduced too late. What a leader!

I'm sick of George Allen, remember?  I'm sick of having a Senator that shows no leadership, no principles.

Want another example?  How's this: After six years in the Senate, our Senator waits until a few weeks before election day to unveil his so-called energy plan.  So, what was keeping him busy earlier this year?  Too many trips to Iowa, I guess!

But, here's the kicker: his plan isn't even his own plan!

Much of Allen's energy plan already languishing in Congress
Published September 10 2006
WASHINGTON -- Virginia Sen. George Allen outlined a broad national energy plan last week that he said would reduce the country's dependence on foreign oil.

The plan, largely a collection of energy bills already introduced, has little chance of winning approval before Congress adjourns for the year.

Wonderful.  So, not only does Allen not bother to put out a plan during his SIX years in the Senate until he has to show voters he's doing something weeks before reelection, he cobbles together ideas that have already been introduced in the Senate and sticks his name on the package - and does so when it's too late to even matter.

And this guy wants to run for President too?

Not his own (libra - 9/26/2006 11:40:11 PM)
Well, Allen had already stolen someone else's bill once (Durbin's). And what was the response (beyond RK)? Zilch.

If a scam works, why not milk it more than once?

Allens Energy Plan - Nothing New (Bubby - 9/27/2006 11:30:37 AM)
There is nothing new, or innovative about this Allen "plan". It is the same old stuff that Republicans in Congress have been paying lip service to for years - more drilling, more coal burning, more consumption.

America needs a serious energy plan that recognizes that conservation and efficiency standards are the first step to ending oil addiction.

Conservation will give us the time we need to start putting our energy house back in order. Looking for a new Oil Pimp, or Cheaper Oil is an addiction fantasy.

The F-team posted this yesterday as some sort of response to the closing of the Ford Plant. I responded that people don't buy Ford trucks because they aren't energy efficient. And drilling the coast of Virginia won't fix that. George Allen offers oil solutions, because George Allen is in the pocket of Big Oil.  George Allen works for Big Oil.  The F-Team deleted the entire story. F-Team values?

Rushing late his term paper (Hugo Estrada - 9/27/2006 3:16:31 PM)
That is what Allen is doing now. He did >>nothing<< for about 6 years. Check his record, and most of his bills are congressional congressional greetings to boy scouts. Fluff, fluff, and more fluff.

That is, when he is not actively voting against providing our troops better equipment.

But don't believe me: got to http://thomas.loc.go... and search for his record.
