Here are some photos from a sup rally today at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg; John Edwards joins Jim Webb and 500 friends for an highly energetic, inspiring rally that had the crowd yelling for more! Great work by everyone, including the Mary Washington College Democrats - shoutout to James Martin! - for helping put this event together. More details later...for now, enjoy the photos.

wish i could've been there (Arlington Mike - 9/26/2006 9:56:36 PM)
Edwards is absolutely one of my favorite politicians, and I really wish that I could've been there today for this. He's a guy who inspires people, who brings a vision that few can, but a vision that I think Jim Webb shares. Lifting people up, improving our country and the lives of its citizens, showing what we are capable of as individuals and as a collective.
Sure as heck hope we can get him back up here in Virginia for us again.
What's with the huge Allen sign? (phriendlyjaime - 9/26/2006 10:04:20 PM)
What's the point of that?
There were about 10 Young Republicans there (Lowell - 9/26/2006 10:16:37 PM)
Outnumbered by 500 or so Webb supporters. Jim Webb greeted them respectfully, which says a lot about Jim Webb's character, I'd say.
I didn't count (Ingrid - 9/26/2006 10:38:34 PM)
but it looked to me like 800 people or so. Great event, well organized by James and his fellow students.
Thanks! (James Martin - 9/27/2006 1:16:09 PM)
I think Webb got another 200 votes just from college girls who saw him with Edwards :-)
And it's definitely to be expected of Jim. (phriendlyjaime - 9/26/2006 10:40:24 PM)
We have a tremendous candidate on our ballot, and hey; maybe they will go home thinking about changing their vote.
Mary Washington? (Eric - 9/26/2006 10:49:30 PM)
College Republicans?
Something sounds familiar...
Uh-oh. I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole.

A Great Day for Jim Webb & John Edwards in Fredericksburg! (stafford dems - 9/27/2006 8:59:14 AM)
Yesterday was a picture-postcard-perfect day and Jim Webb and John Edwards gave SPECTACULAR addresses to an enthusiastic crowd gathered at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg. In an article published this morning, The Free Lance-Star (our local Fredericksburg-area paper) got it wrong when it under-estimated the crowd (at 400). Folks...easily, there were 1,000 PEOPLE GATHERED to hear Sen. Edwards and Virginia's next U.S. Senator, Jim Webb! That's outstanding!
Shawn O'Donnell, our candidate to unseat Rep. Jo Ann "Candy Cane" Davis (R) in Virginia's first congressional district spoke passionately and he too received a rousing response from the crowd. Fredericksburg-area State Sen. Edd Houck - a powerhouse in the Virginia Senate - gave a great introduction to Jim.
And you know that this Senate race is THE HOTTEST IN THE NATION given the droves of MSM gathered to cover the event: CNN, ABC News, the Washington Post, as well as several local news teams from Richmond, Norfolk, and DC made the trip to Fredericksburg. There was also present a journalist from RAI - Italian Television!
Personally, I would like to thank James, Jay, and the enthusiastic team at University of Mary Washington for the great job that they did in staging such a fantastic and well-attended campaign event. Thanks too to Dan, Josh, Adam, Mary and the rest of the Webb advance team for their seamless effort (the stage looked great!). And lastly, thanks to our local committee members in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, King George, and Stafford for the great work they did in promoting the event and getting so many people to show up. Well done!
We showed the Commonwealth and the nation that the Fredericksburg Region is WEBB COUNTRY!

National Support for VA and Webb (Arlington Tom - 9/27/2006 9:21:47 AM)
Do we know if the national democratic groups are going to support Jim Webb. Have the races they are going to focus on been choosen yet? If so, I Virginia one of them? What level of support is expected and will we be able to do alot of TV?
Edwards supported Hurst as well (Henry M - 9/27/2006 9:46:17 AM)
Former Senator John Edwards also came out to a breakfast reception for Andrew Hurst, the Democratic candidate for the 11th District Congressional seat. Calling the election this year one of the most important decision of our lives, he emphasized that candidates like Andy will help restore the moral authority that this Administration has lost in the world.
VOTE HURST!
Isn't Edwards around 53 years old? (thegools - 9/27/2006 1:45:03 PM)
He looks like a man 15 years younger in those pics.
In the 2004 election, people made fun of his youth. Then when I went back and saw the age of our past presidents, I found that between a third and one fourth of them were Edwards' age when they became president, Including people like Lincoln, & Grant.
It is just that Edwards looks soooo young!
