If a Debate Falls in a Forest...

This Saturday, Tim Kaine and Jerry Kilgore will debate.  You didn't know that?  Well, perhaps that's because the debate is being held:  a) at 10:30 on Saturday morning (huh?); b) in the middle of the "dog days" of summer, when almost nobody's paying attention to the Virginia governor's race (hmmm....); c) in West "by God" Virginia -- not even our own state (what the hell?); d) at the remote ultra-expensive ($500+ per night hotel rooms) Greenbrier Resort, located in the middle of "6,500 acres of Allegheny Mountains'  woodland" (i.e., the forest); and e) in front of a few reporters, campaign aides and (possibly) invited guests, but no TV cameras since the debate will not be televised (wonderful!).

In other words, "if a debate falls in a forest, and nobody gets to watch (or hear) it, does it make a sound?"  And if it doesn't, is that perfectly "ducky" with Jerry "the Duck" Kilgore?

Greenbriar has been an important debate, at least historically. It's wierd, yes, that's it's in WVA, but everyone who goes is from VA.  Which makes banning it from TV all the more peculiar. It sounds like Kilgore is just suffering through this, since his delivery skills are pretty poor.  If anyone is going, bring a tape recorder--maybe then there can be an "unofficial" webcast.

You know, it's just (Neal2028 - 4/4/2006 11:27:15 PM)
You know, it's just inconceivable in my mind that Jerry Kilgore thinks its fine to only agree to some debate out in West Virginia.  It's like he thinks he doesn't need to defend his positions...
Just amazing...
