You Tell 'Em Governor Warner

From former Governor Mark Warner's Forward Together site, I couldn't agree more with this statement, made on yet another of Warner's frequent vacations in Iowa (ha):

GÇ£With regards to the Bush tax cuts, in a time of war, to give the most successful in our country a tax break is not morally right and not economically right.GÇ¥ Governor Warner in remarks to the Greater Des Moines Partnership, September 18, 2006

Nice. I also like the following:

If youGÇÖre going to take on the issue of finance reform, thereGÇÖs got to be a sense of fairness. ItGÇÖs got to be a sense of everyoneGÇÖs paying. ItGÇÖs got to have a sense that everyoneGÇÖs doing their share. That means business, that means individuals. We have to look at the spending side as well. The notion that youGÇÖre going to ask another group of Americans to sacrifice and not ask us to sacrifice [in a time of war]GǪ.

Somehow, I can't imagine George "Big Tax Breaks for the Rich and Well-Connected, Scraps for Everyone Else" Allen agreeing with THAT!

Unfair tax cuts (blackamerican - 9/19/2006 8:40:02 PM)
If Warner feels that the tax cuts he received were unfair, then I trust that he promptly send the funds back to the federal government with a nice little thanks but no thanks attached.

Another brilliant comment (Lowell - 9/19/2006 9:58:03 PM)
from another brilliant "conservative."  Thanks so much for the enlightenment!  LOL

Well (DukieDem - 9/19/2006 9:59:55 PM)
Warner's worth an estimated 200 million, so I really don't think he needs the money. I'm certain he'd like to send it back to the federal government if it would go to health care, alternative fuels, or education; but instead it would probably go to Exxon, Halliburton, and paying for George Allen's pay raises.

Exactly (PM - 9/19/2006 10:37:46 PM)
When one reads the history of the Bush family, you see that it used its political connections as a way to make money.

By the way, I read an exciting article today about Honda:

Honda R&D Co., Honda's research arm, in conjunction with Research Institute of Innovative Technology for the Earth (RITE) announced last week they have discovered a ethanol production technology from soft-biomass, which is a renewable source of plant-derived material.

The RITE-Honda process, will "pave the way to bio-ethanol production from cellulose and hemicellulose, with the potential to significantly increase fuel production," . . .

In other words, one could produce ethanol using plant stalks and leaves . . .

I hope this is not just PR b.s.

tax cuts being used wisely.. (drmontoya - 9/19/2006 9:25:16 PM)
I believe people like Warner, Clinton, Clark and others use their tax cuts and more in effort to defeat the GOP.

thanks republicans!
