Today was a busy day for Webb supporters. Unfortunately, I had to attend to personal business, including "issues" with my laptop and my digital camera (ah, technology!), so I wasn't able to attend either Mark Warner's Pig Roast or the Centreville Days Parade. Luckily, we've got some good reporters in the Webb grassroots, so I have already heard that the Warner event was great (more detail on that event later, I hope).
In the meantime, I have received glowing reports from the Centreville Days Parade. According to one source:
We had a fabulous turnout for Webb...I think Allen's horse must have gotten spooked as [the Allen supporters] never showed up. Maybe we forced them to get out of Dodge do you think?
Ha.
The same source noted, with reference to the seniors from Westfields High School (see photo above), "This is pretty typical for a Democratic event out here. This is the real
America!!!" You said it, sister. :)
Another source contacted me to file this report:
Notice the diversity of ethnic groups who as a norm and nothing special were there to support the whole ticket and especially Jim Webb In general, the enthusiasm among the volunteers, the marchers, and the crowd that continuously cheered the Webb group as well as for Judy, Andy, Chuck Caputo etc. was amazing. Andy just kept saying "Thank-you, Thank-you" to the Sully Dems for all the support. He was genuinely excited from the cheering crowds along the parade route. In addition, we had a huge booth and blew the Republicans away. Even a Davis staffer came over and congratulated us on appearances and group size. He surprised us with his compliments.
Wow, sounds like an amazing day in Centreville for Jim Webb, Andy Hurst, Judy Feder, etc. I wish I could have been there. Damn laptop! :)
P.S. A few more good pics on the "flip."
[UPDATE: Report from the Mark Warner event:
...it was such an awesome event. Jim got there late, but stayed through the rain and shook hands and hung out. He was MOBBED as soon as he stepped past the Warner line. It was really cool to see. I had 3 republican friends there that were surprising Webb supporters, and that was cool.

And second, I have uncovered the video taken from George Allen's first hoedown back in the late seventies; in this video that's George pretending to be playing the keyboards; after about 45 seconds the dancing girls come on. George was clearly trying to formulate that weird hybrid cowboy, good 'ol boy image. Again, stay with the video for at least 45 seconds.
Easily 700+ people.
