Quitting positions - will George Allen quit his?

Some Allen-linked bloggers are all a-twitter about Webb resigning his position in the Reagan administration out of protest.  Webb resigned because he disagreed with cuts in the Navy, and Reagan graciously accepted his resignation "with regret."

A more relevant question for this year - will George Allen resign his position as U.S. Senator to campaign for another job outside of Virginia?  The 2008 campaign season has already started - and before Webb's strong challenge, Allen was spending more time in Iowa and South Carolina then he was in the Commonwealth.  As the Pilot noted back before Webb won the primary:

A look at his schedule for this week suggests he is running two campaigns.

As his campaigning in early '08 primary states shows, Allen could be bailing on his Senatorial duties the day after the election to try to leave the Senate he's already admitted to being bored with ("It's too slow for me," Allen complained earlier this year.)

Getting George Allen to pledge serving the entire six-year term is hard enough for him.  We saw that yesterday on Meet the Press when Allen refused to make such a pledge when pressed by Tim Russert.  Ok, let's make it easier for him:  Will George Allen pledge to serve even HALF of his term?

"Too slow for me."...Allen said YESTERDAY! (kevinceckowski - 9/18/2006 12:17:22 PM)
He said it again yesterday.
Bingo.
He is resigning from the Senate to run for President. No doubt!

Do Virginians want that? I don't think so.

This Congress served the lowest number of days on the clock in over 30 years.  If I did that, I would be FIRED!!!!
