Allen Voted Against $1 Billion In Funding For Guard And Reserve Equipment and Armor. In 2003, Allen voted against providing an additional $1.047 billion for procurement of National Guard and Reserve equipment. According to Mary Landrieu, the bill+óGé¼Gäós sponsor, much of the money would have been used for protective gear for Guard and Reserve troops.
Allen Voted Against More Body Armor Funding. In late 2003, Allen voted a second time against better body armor for our troops by opposing an amendment to provide an additional $322 million for safety equipment, including body armor, to troops in Iraq.
Pentagon Study: 80% of Marine Deaths Could Have Been Prevented With Additional Body Armor. In January, the New York Times reported that a Pentagon study found that as many as 80 percent of Marine deaths in Iraq could have been prevented with increased body armor, which has been available since 2003.
So this is what George Allen does when he's not "bored" in the "wounded sea slug" he calls the U.S. Senate? Turning his back on the nation's troops? Wonderful.
