Sounds like this will be a nice event.  Not to mention, another stop for Webb in Southwest Virginia.  Heck, he has been here more than I have lately.  :)

Well... (Neal2028 - 9/15/2006 11:41:30 PM)
I know it's a fundraiser, but minimum $100 is pretty steep for a lot of people.

I'm going to have to pass and wait until he does an event open to everybody.

Yeah .... (Brian - 9/16/2006 12:22:11 AM)
It is expensive for us poor folks, but he has done several "free" events in Southwest Virginia.

A couple of weeks ago, Webb visited supporters at the Wise County Fair.

The following day, he attended a Breakfast sponsored by the Russell County Democrats, then a rally in Clinchco sponsored by the Dickenson County Democrats, and finally, spoke with fellow Veterans at the District Meeting in Clintwood.

Give the organizers a call/email, maybe they would let you in free in exchange for doing a blog report.

Alright (Neal2028 - 9/16/2006 12:26:43 AM)
I'll give that a shot, and if it doesn't work, oh well.  I understand he's supposed to be in Bristol soon (I'm not sure if I was supposed to "announce" that or not...) for some breakfast thing, which couldn't be more than $5 or $10 dollars (which is a huge step down from $100).

Abingdon on Sat, 23 (libra - 9/16/2006 12:51:08 AM)
Don't know how the Abingdon event is going to be run, but we (in Lexington) will be having something similiar the day before. Similiar dollar numbers for tickets/titles (ranging from $100 to $1000 for individual to patron) to attend a gathering *at a private house*. Which, I admit, can be rather steep for the SWVA Dems, given that the Repubs have had their hands full, for years, shearing the middle class...

But Jim will speak -- for free -- at an open-air downtown "rally" (well, I wonder how many people will come) before the fancy-pants fundraiser.

Come one, come all; it's free. Though I dare say the campaign would not turn down a check for $10 or whatever you can afford, if you could be so motivated... :)

My advice for those who live in the vicinity of Abingdon would be to call the number given/send an e-message and find out if there's some sort of *public* (ie free) gathering likely to happen before the formal event, same as in Lextropolis

Exactly. (phriendlyjaime - 9/16/2006 8:59:54 AM)
You may also want to try your hand at getting involved locally, and seeing if you can't meet some of the very people hosting the fancy fundies.  You never know; someone having one of these parties may be more than happy to have you as their "clean up the kitchen helper" for a day....
